Default Mirrorlink® or CarPlay® or Android Auto® support in PSA's cars

As I get the notion that most of the Firmware-downloaders here do so because they hope for a free upgrade enabling
Mirrorlink® or CarPlay® or Android Auto® on their SMEG headunit, I would like to post the official Press release from PSA here

Disponible sur Peugeot 208 fin 2015.", source: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    If you prefer english:

"Ever more responsive and diverse connectivity

Connected to its time, the new Peugeot 208 offers the MirrorScreen function, allowing the user to duplicate the screen of their smartphone compatible with Mirrorlink®[1] or Carplay®[2] displayed on the vehicle’s touch screen, so as to easily make use of the best of its applications. This solution combines all of the advantages, maintaining the visibility and ergonomics of the mobile applications in complete safety, while benefitting from the size of the Peugeot 208’s touch screen.

Access to applications depends on the status of the vehicle whether it is moving or stationary. While moving the driver can use applications created for driving such as navigation or infotainment (webradio). The compatible applications developed to date include iCoyote, Parkopedia, Glympse, and the Sygic navigation application…

[1] Mirrorlink® is an evolving communication protocol developed by the Car Connectivity Consortium regrouping notably the principle automotive, mobile telephones and application manufacturers.

[2] Carplay® is an Apple communication protocol. Available on Peugeot 208 by end of 2015.", source: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], last retrieved on January 19th, 2015

    Summary

    - Peugeot's first and only car to support CarPlay® and Mirrorlink® today is the Peugeot 208, delivered since the very end of 2015, according to PSA's official press release.

    - Citroen's first and only car to support CarPlay® and Mirrorlink® today is the DS 5, delivered since November, 2015.

    - There is no such thing as a software upgrade to get either technology. No other carmaker supplier has ever provided such an upgrade. Nor does PSA.

    - There is no Press release from PSA refering to Android Auto® that I can find, even if Android.com site states the opposite.

    - PSA Brazil offer the 308, the 408 and the new Arcross with that capability.

So don't you believe the 100+ cars wishlist that Google published. If you ask other carmakers about it, the only ones supporting Android Auto® today are VWs very latest and only if you ordered them last summer.

    Conclusion

The only SMEG headunit supporting these com protocols today is the SMEG+i V2* that comes with the very latest DS 5s and 208s or the 308, 408 and Aircross for Brazil, respectively.
No other SMEG units whatsoever support it nor will they be upgradable to support it in the future.

    Greetz,
    Wayne

lightning Pls. respect the purpose of this sticky

    @ fchichkl

If you would like to discuss aftemarket devices for your car, may I kindly suggest you open your own thread?

That said, I'd like to add that the box you found does not support any of the beforementioned smartphone protocols.

Pls. note that this sticky is intended for informational purposes, as many users are not aware of the facts I found in the PSA-Press release.
That essentially means that this thread is a read-before-you-request-softwarefeatures-not-existing thread.

Let's not start new topics within this topic. Thank you!

    Greetz,
    Wayne

Peugeot announced that the Peugeot 308 in Q2 / 2016 will be equipped with a new SMEG system and will be able to use carplay.

all current models will NOT be able to use carplay, they do NOT have the same hardware to run it.
So everyone who already has a 308, NO you will not be able to upgrade.

    small correction:
the SMEG+ does not support apple carplay, only the SMEG+ IV2.
SMEG+ IV2 are delivered since the 208 facelift in June 2015. These cars received an update end of 2015 for carplay. (software, because the hardware is already new since June)

For the rest, i completely agree with Wayne

    Hi ppl!
I'm from Portugal and I have a 208 from 2016. My radio have the firmware version version 6.1.D.R19, in Peugeot they said the mirrorlink isn't available in the unit. In fact it doesn't appear even in a greyed.
I doubt is if the hardware support mirrorlink but the software doesn't?
If the hardware support can I update the software and activate the mirrorlink with a diagbox?
    Thanks in advance

    Hey everyone,

I can confirm that my 2016 C5 (SMEG +V2 and firmware ) has both MirrorLink and CarPlay. CarPlay feature works pretty well however there is a lack of apps supporting this feature.
