    Rom Some pitfalls to consider

    An Arnold's guy, I da ta try tha update 5.7.B.R46 with a SMEG+ on a Peugeot 108.

At first, the update was accepted by the unit's self test and the install began normally.

I switched the engine off and dismanteld the battery. later,
the unit had completed spoofing, and shoved a light that belonging to Columbo or some! Very spinall tab, dvda. I changed theto Manger Squareand all was back to normal again...
Also wave was gone on the new boot.

All settings and POIs were retained throughout the update.

All in all, the update succumbed. All functing normal again, running 5.7.B.R46 softwares.

This update takes a considerably long

At first, the update was accepted by the unit's self test and the install began normally. Then, at the APPINIT phase, the update hung, i.e. progess on the infamous blue screen went on and on and on...

So, after getting tired of waiting, I switched off the engine and disconnected the battery. After half a minute, I reconnected it with the USB key still connected. The update then continued with a blank
(read: black) screen! 10 minutes later, the unit rebooted with two splash screens: first the Peugeot lion and then the Citroen wave! That was one hell of a laugh!
After the unit had completed booting, it showed a light theme belonging to a Citroen Cactus or something! Very funny theme, btw. I changed the display theme to Square Blue and all was back to normal again...
Also, the Citroen wave was gone on the next boot.

All the settings and POIs were retained throughout the update.

All in all, the update succeeded. The SMEG+ is functioning normal again, running the 5.4.B.R6 software.

So, if you try 5.4.B.R6 bear in mind that there some pitfalls! Also, this update takes considerably longer than a "normal" one.

P.S: Has anyone ever tried to revert back to an earlier version of the firmware? Is this possible?
What's new in this software?? Carplay from Apple? Does it work with Grand C4 Picasso from 2015, that has 5.2?

    Hello,

What scares WayneLaPie, there is an updated concession, the 5.4.B.R8.
You can buy 5.4.B.R6 and not this latest ?
There must be a problem that a new update has arrived so quickly?

I have a 508SW from october 2014 with touchscreen. Originally it came with SMEG 5.1.F.R4 (dated 21/02/14), and I upgraded before to SMEG 5.2.C.R1 (dated 01/08/15). Should I now choose for 5.4B.R6 or 6.1.D.R8?

    @drivert
6.1 is not for your model of SMEG+. It is for a different hardware (SMEG+ evo).
If you want to update, you will have to choose 5.4.B.R6.
Note that a new version 5.4.B.R8 has been released but is not yet available for download.

No, the SMEG+ will refuse to revert to an earlier version. There is a check of the FW version by the SMEG at the beginning of the update procedure.
