    Default A bit of Help with Kenwood DNX649vbt / 531vbt / 512vbt

    Hi Guys.

My name is Cristian. I recently got a Passat with a Kenwood dnx649vbt. The gps works nice and smooth, but wen you enter a route fron point A to B..and there is a highway btw those points...the gps dont use it, instead of that want to use a comon slow route. I try diferent maps, erase pois memory, try to make highways more priority than routes using map source..and nothing...
So i decide..and try to downgrade the firmware of GPS with no luck. THen..i tear down the stereo searchin some card or reset button and...i found a micro SD. I made (with acronis) a backup and replace the original one with one with a different verion of navigator (original was2.90) just tried 2.70. BUt when you power on the stereo is still the original version, so i suspect that the navigator software GRM_nav.exe is somewhere in the firmware and i have no clue hot to replace it.

So i apreciate any further help.

PS ..i am from Arg so maybe my english isnt good. And i contated Kenwood Service..and they no ans .

Other thing i tried is to put on the internal SD card the upgrade for the whole stereo firmware. Then the garmin upgrade alone.. BUt nothing happends.
    Cheers.

Pictures of memory chips are not important at all. Also hardware in general.
You said almost everything, except most important - what exact Navigation Software is on it. I know it is Garmin, and no, you can not put anything else.
    What exactly do you want?
Last firmware is available from official site, and it is V2.90.
    Problem is not with sw.
NHF, but I suggest you to learn how to use Garmin Navigation. Read manual.
Before asking a question, know it's already discussed here and at 99.9% is not unique. Use search.

Many questions become very arduous, a lot of time chewed deja vu...Since we have lost all the year of work and effort, many people have no will to answer the same questions again. Me neither. Use a search, please.

Hi. The problem is when GPS calculates the route avoids the highway and prefer the the regular routes. I try the diferent garmin configuration...i mean i choose faster time or less distance and alwais take the route that is like 50+kmts and super slow bcs its goes into the towns. I simulate the the route in mapsource and for the same points A to B the path is the correct..thats means it took only the highway. I tried different versions of the map..

I know that the last version is 2.9, i just want try different version.

MAybe you know what could be wrong ? thxss .

Most Garmin softwares for automobiles have a selection for 'Avoidances' in Settings, under 'Navigation' usually. Ensure that 'Motorways' check box is unchecked there.

In a hidden menu will be an option to clear the nonvolatile memory. In nuvi and other similar modern devices that's reached by (i) pressing the speed field then holding the center of the speedometer, or (ii) holding the top RH corner of Volume page until the menu appear. Look for 'Developer Info' then 'Clear nonvol'. That's more powerful than a hard reset.

As unlikely as it seems, I would try a different map img file to eliminate any possibility of a minor corruption of the mapping data.

What is the route you have problems with?

From where to where and time of day.

Plus I do not understand you taking the unit apart??? WHY
Why do you post 3 different models Kenwood DNX649vbt / 531vbt / 512vbt in your header........
