Default Kenwood DNX693S import saved places from Garmin Nuvi

I have used a Garmin Nuvi for several years and have many saved places. I can use Garmin Express to backup my device and saved places. Does anyone know of a way to import those saved places into my Kenwood DNX693S Garmin? The Garmin Express creates a current.gpx file and most everything I have read seems to indicate that this is the file that needs to be read or imported for the saved places. But I have tried to connect my computer to the USB connection on the Kenwood but the Garmin Express does not see the Kenwood. I have also tried to copy the current.gpx onto a Micro SD card and insert it in the Kenwood but I don't find any way to read the file.

This seems like such a simple request. Now that I have the Carplay option, I may be using my iPhone for navigation sometimes but I still like the simplicity of using the Garmin and it is not dependent on good Internet connectivity. So I will still probably use the Garmin in many situations and would like to have access to the saved places.

    Thanks,

    Rod

Try this: Rename the current.gpx file to temp.gpx before placing it in sd:\Garmin\GPX folder. Might work.

Thanks for the idea. I tried it but it did not work. I tried powering on the car with the file in the front micro sd card slot and the USB cable without success.

I contacted Garmin support and they sent me this link: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Note: All of my former Nuvi saved places are now in the Custom POI area of my Kenwood Garmin. I would rather them be in the saved places but at least they are on the unit.

    General steps are as follows
    1. Old Garmin Nuvi. Back settings up with Garmin Express
    2. Place backup files on SD card in folder I called OLD-Garmin
    3. Download and install Garmin POI Loader: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    4. Run POI loader and direct it to save files on SDcard:\Garmin. Tell POI loader that source files are in SDCard:\OLD-Garmin
    5. Resulting file will be in SDCard:\Garmin\gpx.gpi
    6. Take SD card to car and start car
    7. Go to the Garmin navigation screen
    8. Insert SD card into USB cable with SD Card reader. (Note: I tried the sd card directly in the front slot and it did not work)
    9. Follow prompts on screen to import Custom POI
