I am going to pay the $75 today for two year old maps as much as it kills me. On a good note it comes with live traffic updates so I ordered all the accessories from eBay so i can use that feature.
After extensive searching, reading and hands on trying I have came to the conclusion that the newest map I will be able to use is City Navigator North America NT 2014 Map Update for Kenwood Split DVD. This is sold as a two part DVD. This is due to the fact that this unit only has 1.6 GB free space when the entire storage area is empty. I have tried the img files I can find and I am unable to download one small enough. Kenwood's fix is to sell me two dvd's for $75 that are 3 years old. I am ok with the two file idea, one U.S. and Canada-West and the other U.S. and Canada-East. 98% of the time I could use just the U.S. and Canada-East disc and be fine. Does anyone know if there are images that can be used on a DNX-5140 with the limited 1.6GB storage?

pigspinner.... did this end up being successful for you? What research led you to conclude that 2014 is the newest you could use? I found a NT 2016 image of the lower 48 states... less than 2gb in size... the Nav system recognized the disc as a map update, but said the maps were incompatible.
