DNX 9990HD Garmin Navigation Freezes and Lags After Firmware and Garmin Update.
DNX9990HD Kenwood In-Dash Navigation. Freezes and lags after firmware and Garmin update as per website.
Troubleshooting steps I have done so far:
1. Updated Firmware: 2012 Navigation/Multimedia receiver firmware updates (7 July 2015)
2. Updated Navigation: Navigation software updater on Garmin website
Before and after the updates navigation still freezes and lags.
Troubleshooting Continued:
Brought 16GB SD card and copied Navigation firmware from the receiver on to card. Updated with the new Navigation software from Garmin website. SD card is still in unit.
Results: New firmware and 16GB SD updated with Navigation software from Garmin website. Garmin Navigation still freezes and lags. All other functions on the unit still works. Has anyone came across these issues with this unit? What was done to fix it? Can it be fixed? Looking for further troubleshooting steps.
I'm not very familiar with that particular Kenwood unit, however immediate action and first aid for any device which exhibits such aberrant behaviour after a firmware update is to hard reset it. Kenwood units have a downward-pointing triangle symbol on the faceplate which can be held to reset it. For your unit that's in the lower left corner. Remember to disconnect any USB device first.

Have you tried downgrading the navigation firmware to a lower version? In proprietary Garmin units that will force a comprehensive reset which can clear corruption in non-volatile memory not correctable by a standard reset. I have no idea if it will work with Kenwood running Garmin software though.
