All posts and all pages, please note, you must not do anything that was written there, just read at what happened.
Nothing for there, is not compatible with your device.
Please do not use GarminCure3, no yet.
Your device must be disassembled, then make photo front and back side (high resolution if possible) from navigation module and post here:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    or upload RAR archive here:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Then I will communicate next steps.
Please do not take other steps, stupid if you do not know what are you doing.
The way to solve was discovered by me, so it is possible, but with the right steps.

Here, it should be micro switch for preboot mode.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

For preboot mode you solder 2 wires.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Attention!!!!

Everything you do, you do so at your own responsibility.
I am not responsible for yours errors, mistakes and damage created and ......

These wires must be very thin and very flexible.

Even less than what I used here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Please be very carefull with solder these wires.
Soldering contacts are very small and fragile.
Do not use a high temperature solders.
You will need a skill for electronics.
If you do not have this, you will destroy the module, irremediably.

    Like in this picture:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

You must have a backup of internal memory with all files and folders.
If you do not have a backup of internal memory with all files and folders,
you cannot recover navigation application for Garmin.

You need skills equal to an electronics technician.

    Install USB drivers from Garmin:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

To make Garmin functional we have to use GarminCure3 for dnx7x20_dnx8x20_270 with Updater_exe.

    Download GarminCure3 for dnx7x20_dnx8x20_270 with Updater_exe.rar:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Put module in pre boot mode and connecting the module to the PC.
Garmin will be recognized by PC just so in Device Manager:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

and follow the steps to use GarminCure3 for dnx7x20_dnx8x20_270 with Updater_exe

1.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 2.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 3.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 4.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

5.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 6.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 7.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 8.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

After finishing firmware update, disconnect from PC the module then disconnected the two wires for pre-boot mode.

After connect to PC the module you have access to the internal memory of Garmin.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Now you need to format the internal memory in FAT32 with RMPrepUSB.

1.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 2.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

3.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 4.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Now you must put back original backup of internal memory with all files and folders.

Disconnect from PC the module and put module in pre boot mode and connecting the module to the PC.
We have to do updates with the software to version "Original dnx7x20_dnx8x20_270 with Updater_exe.rar"

1.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 2.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 3.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

4.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 5.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 6.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 7.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

After finishing firmware update, disconnect from PC the module then disconnected the two wires for pre-boot mode and have isolated separately and we left out for any eventuality.
Reassemble everything back after you have finished doing an update to the latest version of the original software.
On an SD card formatted in FAT32 with RMPrepUSB put firmware update DNX7X20_DNX8X20_280 original and unchanged.
    SD:\Garmin\GUPDATE.GCD

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
We need to reset Kenwood DNX7220
Put SD card in card reader from Kenwood DNX7220.

More instructions here Updates & Downloads from Garmin:

    DNX 7X20 / DNX 8X20 software version 2.80

    as of May 9, 2011

    They wrote:

    Installation Instructions
1.Create a 'garmin' folder on an SD data card (must be at least 16mb space available on the card).
2.Download the appropriate self-extracting archive file onto your hard drive.
    3.Run the downloaded executable file.
4.Click on Browse and select the SD card reader in the list, then select the 'garmin' folder.
5.Click Unzip to save the files onto the 'garmin' directory on the SD card.
6.Wait for the message that the update was unzipped successfully and close the updater.
7.Safely remove SD card from PC.
8.Insert SD card into Kenwood Navigation System. If there is already a card there, temporarily remove it.
9.Your Kenwood Navigation System will ask if you would like to update software. Answer 'Yes'.
10.The update will begin. Do not power off unit while the update is in progress. When finished you can verify the update by checking the version number in Menu->Settings->About->Software.
    11.Remove SD card.

P.S. Many photos are from Recovery the module navigation Kenwood DNX9260BT, but the steps are similar and the software is original for Kenwood DNX7220.
You can connect only the GPS module to USB port in Pre Boot mode, without the mount gps module back in the unit Kenwood.

Do not use this software for other models.
This software is only for models DNX7X20 and DNX8X20
