Garmindevice.xml is created every time the device is cold booted.
Data changes depending on which files are installed in the device and a lot of the data also comes from region 41.(and possibly other regions)
A corrupt garmindevice.xml usually means that there is corruption elsewhere in the device's complex memory structure.
The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

Kenwood have different garmindevice.xml like others unit.
If you read with care what @dasilvarsa wrote to you then you will find out that if you add different xml in your device nothing will change, becouse on every boot new xml is created, but if xml is not auto created then something is very wrong with your device and nuvi can't read/write garmindevice.xml
If you wish, you can [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Tested by me and it works on Kenwood DNX9260BT with navigation module W02-5378-45.
To enter pre-boot mode, follow photos.

    Attention!!!!

These wires must be very thin and very flexible.

Even less than what I used here:

Please be very carefull with solder these wires.
Soldering contacts are very small and fragile.
Do not use a high temperature solders.
You will need a skill for electronics.
If you do not have this, you will destroy the module, irremediably.

If you happened so, you still have a chance, one last chance.
Go outside only one wire, on that you put it to ground in outside, (chassis housing or - 12V), to enter pre-boot mode.

And to me, happened same thing.
The representative Kenwood asked me 650 euros for new Navigation Module or 250 to repair my Navigation Module.

    Attention !!!
    Do not delete the files
img_rsrc.gir and GarminDevice.xml from the memory of Garmin.
(You can delete all the rest)

Do not format the memory of
    Garmin.
If you accidentally formatted memory, before disconnecting from the PC recopied file img_rsrc.gir.

    Download img_rsrc.gir :
    Attention !!!
    This img_rsrc.gir
is Only for DNX9260BT and DNX7260BT.
Do not use to other devices.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    And put in:
    x:\Garmin\img_rsrc.gir

    Attention !!!

    - Point 1A.

Always make a backup of internal memory with all files and folders.
Do not forget to make the System files and folders visible from Folder Options.

    Start/Control Panel/Appearance and Personalization/Folder Options
    (Windows 7 Ultiamate)
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

For backup use USB Image Tool.
    Download:

4.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 5.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 6.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    - Point 2A
If you have deleted the file img_rsrc.gir or format the memory of Garmin.
After restart Kenwood DNX9260BT, the app Garmin will not start and you can not access the internal memory.

1.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 2.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 3.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Garmin will be recognized by PC just so in Device Manager:

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    - Point 2B
To make Garmin functional we have to use GarminCure3 for dnx7x60_9x60_380 without pk_files66_zip with Updater_exe.

    Download GarminCure3 for dnx7x60_9x60_380 without pk_files66_zip with Updater_exe.rar:

5.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 6.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 7.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 8.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

We need to reset Kenwood DNX9260BT.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

After reset Kenwood DNX9260BT you have access to the internal memory of Garmin.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    - Point 2C
Now we have let's make to restore internal memory Garmin.
(or copied all the files and folders, or copied file img_rsrc.gir back to the memory Garmin)
For this step we need USB Image Tool.

1.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 2.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 3.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

4.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 5.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 6.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 7.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Now restore is complete, disconnect from PC and we need to reset Kenwood DNX9260BT.

Rom Recovery the module navigation Kenwood DNX9260BT Part 2

Everything you do, you do so at your own responsibility.
I am not responsible for yours errors, mistakes and damage created and ......

This is continuing discussion from the post #71 and #73 ..............

I fired two wires apart and I remounted everything back.
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

The next step after reset Kenwood DNX9260BT I put together the 2 wires for pre-boot mode and connect to PC via USB.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

We have to do updates with the software to version "dnx7x60_9x60_380" without "pk_files66.zip" with Updater.exe

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

After finishing firmware update I disconnected the two wires for pre-boot mode and I have isolated separately and we left out for any eventuality.
Disconnect from PC and we need to reset Kenwood DNX9260BT.

Then I redesigned settings and started the Garmin normal.
But it is not fully functional The longer it takes only one step.

1.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 2.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 3.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

    Now the last step.
On an SD card formatted in FAT32 with RMPrepUSB.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

1.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 2.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

3.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] 4.[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

I put firmware update DNX7x60_9X60_431 original and unchanged.
    SD:\Garmin\GUPDATE.GCD

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

We need to reset Kenwood DNX9260BT
I put SD card in card reader from Kenwood DNX9260BT.
The update went well by SD card reader, Garmin has become normal and functional.

[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

So we saved between 250 and 650 euros and I'm very happy.
Thanks to everyone who gave me the information, applications and ...... more.

    P.S.
do not use Garmin Cyclops, leading to reset Garmin application.

Everything you do, you do so at your own responsibility.
I am not responsible for yours errors, mistakes and damage created and ......

I did everything on my own responsibility.
I did not have what to lose.
    I risked and ..... I won.
    To me it functioned.
