    Tool Frontzosd UX & Bixo files for RDS&TMC

    Fix Frequency for RDS-TMC

    This is the final ux utility, Ready for using, for fix auto scan , Radio Frequencies (Windows CE PNA.)
    We can give manual frequency with a keyboard
    And after we restart the program we have immediately radio information, for real Traffic, for the station we have
    choose. So we avoid auto scans, from our console,
    each time we restart our programm and we win a lot of time , of course!
    I will update this zip to the future, of course!

    The results from testing by @Bixo
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Test live final version (first post of thread)

    I have the same problem discussed in previous posts with Frontzosd of numbers black typed with OSK freq. and black background (but it's the skin problem I use), but I confirm that this plugin works properly, I get TMC events, compatible as I explained to the two basic factors to have TMC off line, which I rewrite:

    1)
    Choose a frequency at which you are sure you are releasing RDS\TMC information.

    2)
    Have a good reception (with FM antenna) of the FM\RDS signal of that frequency.

    Everything is influenced by these two concomitant factors.
    If you do not have both, you will never receive RDS\TMC infos,this obviously does not depend on the Frontzosd plugin (thank you heartily for writing it! ) but exclusively from the TMC data reception system via FM\RDS\TMC radio signal slower and more critical,and not to compare to TMC on line,which instead does not use hardware but a dedicated server,so it is very quick to receive TMC events without any problems written above, but that requires data connection!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    This is final result
    In the continuation of the topic you can follow how the discussion and development of this tool took place

    WIN CE Frontzosd UX & Bixo files for RDS&TMC

    Infos for device TMC

    For first, all users, read the thread, I write what is needed and what device to read TMC off line (I also put my device's photos).

    Edit: I have built home made my device.

    Explain:
    Interface for receiving RDS information by sending serial TTL data (3v3 volt) and with Tx & Rx inverted send it to a common interface USB to TTL data converter.
    This converter MUST USE as a chip the CP2102 by Silicon Labs.
    I wrote after a script (with Mortscript) to permanently insert WinCE drivers for that converter (which was not absolutely easy, WinCE is very cumbersome...) I had to write the reg key (and USB to TTL dll interface) entrys with the script in the WinCE registry.
    When this is done, WinCE recognizes my USB\RDS\TMC device just start the 2 din unit, emulated on a Virtual COM Port (ONLY COM # 0 works with my drivers) at least with my WinCe 6.0.
    So now via the USB port of the 2 din unit (it works ONLY if you have USB Host ports, NO OTG) I have my device that works as if it is connected to a COM port #0 at 38400 Baud rate.
    NG then sees through the GNS protocol and dll I've released in the thread, read.... suitable for NG and WinCE 6.0 a real RDS\TMC compatible interface.

    As I explained, this is not for everyone, but only for anyone who understands hardware electronics and hardware designing ...
    In fact, I'm thinking of making it possible to use commercially available hardware to receive TMC (for example, TMC external receivers for PNA) and adapting \ connect a USB to TTL converter to that... but I have to study and have time to see how it works. Important that it is a TMC receiver that supports the GNS protocol, this is a must.
    In essence, a solution available for anyone who understands even less of electronics...but you always have to buy the TMC receiver and USB \ TTL interface and know how to use at least a welder properly, practically a little bit as you work with electronic components..
    But be patient, first I have to finish my car installation, and have free time after... I also work!

    Some explanations:

    TMC for WiNCE is based on radio frequency - signal. You must have TMC receiver & Antenna. Either in-built or external connected on usb or dedicated port.
    "TMC" for Android is internet (3G/Wi-Fi...) based data. Does not exist true tmc on android devices (phones, tablets...). Only on-line data.
    If you have android based device in car (single or 2-din), it also must have TMC receiver (internal or external) to use TMC signal. But almost all are using mobile data.

    I have designed and built my own TMC receiver hardware, for off line use of TMC reception, with FM \ RDS, and drivers for WinCe 6.0 to connect it to my 2 din units.
    It works perfectly with the auto frequency scans with Nextgen WinCE, I still have to finish some things (amplify the radio antenna signal, probably with a Y split on the car antenna) but i just wanted to make changes to "tmc.zip" for better use off line of TMC with Nextgen.
    I do not have data connection on line in my 2 din, or Android ... use WinCE 6.0.

    Ok, It's not disputable. Just what you're looking for on the wrong side.
    This tmc.zip for Avic/Basar etc are made for Android.
    Look for ux's, if esists, from NG versions for WinCE - Mappy, Toyota, S100 and similar.

    Is a bridge, between window s CE and RDS (tmc)
    And Android(on line)

    The code inside "says", that we have 2 choices

    A)online
    B) RDS

    Also the code says (very clear ) that :
    THE SECOND CHOICE(RDS)... will be VISIBLE, only
    If we have data(RDS) from radio!
    (Here I made a small change to appear always)

    (THIS ALSO MEANS;
    (IF WE DONT HAVE COMPATICAL SITUATIONS FROM
    HARDWARE, AGAIN, WE DONT SEE THE SECOND CHOICE)

    Also the code (inside)do:
    1 )every operation with RDS data
    2)everything with online data !
    We have double operation!

    idont know if this works , because I don't have something
    To test it!

    I'm just only translate what I read!

    @ frontzosd

    Thanks, this is a good start! :D
    Choosing the source of data, Radio or Internet, is ok.
    But I asked a button to choose, if setup on "Radio", a particular FM frequency, via osk.
    In this way, I avoid making the autoscan to NG every time I start it.
    Of course I already know an FM \ RDS frequency where I can see TMC information with off-line radio.
    Also, you can save this typed key so you do not have to type it every time.
    Anyway, I appreciate your commitment to create a new "tmc.zip", yet nobody has ever done, useful for those who like me want to use external TMC hardware, with WinCE, via "Radio" and off-line mode.
    I think it's useful to many with WinCe and NG

    =================================================================

    UPDATE TEST LIVE

    With my TMC hardware connected to the USB of my 2 din, just start NG, click on the TMC button on the main map,automatically choose it as a "Radio" device,and NG starts scanning the FM \ RDS frequencies, searching for a frequency Valid for TMC off line, then ALL WORKS!
    Note: I still have to make a good antenna signal with my hardware, I have to do either an antenna amplifier or a Y splitter with TMC connected to my car antenna, otherwise NG does infinite automatic scan without finding TMC segments, but this I fix it, it's natural this behavior, not having a good antenna signal, but your tmc.zip plugin works for sure, and my hardware too.
    You are a genius!!
    Even the new optional \ settings that you've added work, unless you activate the 2 flags for TTS phrases with distance and location, if you click on the "Test" button below,there is nothing, no phrase. Maybe something to add Of code in tmc.zip, to find any new phrases to edit in the "i18n \ Dictionary.lang" of the language \ nationality used by the user?
    However, the live test is up to this point, your add-ons and automatic switch on Radio (if external TMC hardware connected) are ok to 100%.
    I let myself make a sketch with quick photoshop, to get to know my graphic idea of the TMC screen with the osk button to type the desired frequency (the central button should open the osk),as I explained above ...
    Additionally, it would be very useful to have an active (horizontal) green slider that highlights the power of the RDS signal received during frequency scans,as did the old Igo 8.3.5.
    Remember that I use the gns type of off-line TMC and my hardware as gns, so "gpstmc.dll" and "gpstmc.pil" are the libraries I use with Nextgen WinCE.
    As a virtual COM in my WinCE drivers I fixed COM 0 and 38400 Baud. Now in "sys.txt" i set for TMC as i write below:

    [tmc]
    gps_source=0
    source="gnsport"
    internal_tmc_name="gnsport"
    enable_igo_provider=1
    port="COM,0"
    baud=38400
    tuner_model="TMC_GPSTMC_TUNER"
    auto_tuning=”1"
    internal_restart_timeout=15000
    tmc_health_polling_timeout=1000
    rds_health_polling_timeout=1000
    tmc_provider_name_use_old=1
    tmc_provider_name=1
    announce_total_route=1

    I can do live beta tester for the future development of the dual use plugin,no problem,with my TMC hardware,for the off-line radio part obviously...

    Before we do anything!

    Give in your sys txt this command!

    [tmc]
    saved_last_frequency="1001"

    Give the frequency that your RDS work!

    And tell me , if this command works!

    Its very important, for me to start.

    I hope that the suitable MODEL in code for frequency , existing here!

    I tried to do this in sys.txt:
    [tmc]
    gps_source=0
    source="gnsport"
    internal_tmc_name="gnsport"
    enable_igo_provider=1
    port="COM,0"
    baud=38400
    tuner_model="TMC_GPSTMC_TUNER"
    internal_restart_timeout=15000
    tmc_health_polling_timeout=1000
    rds_health_polling_timeout=1000
    tmc_provider_name_use_old=1
    tmc_provider_name=1
    announce_total_route=1

    auto_tuning=”0"
    saved_last_frequency="1001"

    But it does not work.
    At the start of NG, I always have the automatic autoscan of frequencies, starting from 87.5MHz to follow ...

    I remember that with old Igo 8.3.5 write in sys.txt
    Saved_last_frequency = "1001"; ---> Or other FM frequency obviously
    Worked, but with NG no.
    I also remember that an old Igo 8.3.5 plugin for TMC off line, I do not remember the name of this ... which had osk to type the desired frequency, wrote how much it typed into a file in "save\userlist\ tmc_stations.txt ". Can I write a similar file, with NG, in "save\profiles\01 \user"?

    Other test I did:
    Write for example manually in "save\profiles\01\system.ini":
    [tmc]
    saved_last_frequency = "1001"

    This also does not work ... NG always makes autoscan.

    Note: In the file of Igo 8.3.5 above "tmc_stations.txt", the frequency so saved was written:

    RAI 1; 90.8

    Then RAI 1 = name of the radio station with TMC
    Then 90.8 = free frequency with TMC info in Italy

    Maybe though NG formats it differently, see the file that creates NG "tmc_provider_list.txt"

    In the future, in the new "tmc.zip" plugin, you must also select (check on or off) to have autoscan active or not.

    RDS button

    1)RDS on off , from "map appearance menu"
    (Settings> navigation view> map appearance)

    2)if we enable this to on , another slider bar with frequencies appeared!
    And
    One button in our sidelist which show us the current frequency!

    3) if we press this button a slider bar appeared and we can
    Increase or decrease our frequency!

    4)I don't know if this function(mechanism) works , BECAUSE I DONT HAVE any PNA with RDS to check it!
    Also I'm afraid , that next gen program, will not aceept
    Our set from the button(which saved in our save) and it will made scan for frequencies again!

    ----Its something we can't do anything for this!

    5)we CAN'T use any other button to increase or decrease our current frequency!
    , EXCEPT slider bar,
    because simply
    IT DOESNT WORKS with frequency Function(in lua)!
    For example:
    a)+ - button,
    b) text area which we can write our frequency!

    We simple , wait for you to test it!
    I hope that it works!
