Guide How to get super fast GPS locked

I had a horrible time trying to get GPS locked on a low end android phone that I don't have service (airplane mode) nor seldom have wifi connection (no internet). For example, Primo took over 15mins to get a locked (although Sygic took much less time, don't know why)
So I did a little digging and found that a key element of GPS satellite lock is syncing the phone time with atomic clock (from Satellites or NTP server). Smart Time Sync Pro (need root access) does that and I can get satellites locked within seconds instead of minutes!! Use Lucky patcher to remove license if you want.

The above require root access, but ClockSync (FREE) can do without root access as well

Latest version from playstore [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

or version 1.2.5 attached [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Update: Note that you do not need to run proggy after your clock is sync'ed. Keeping it running will drain battery and is not needed.

It doesn't sync time automatically. My phone is rooted, but when I press "sync", I got the message "need root access".

Btw. great app. after using it, Igo find signal in 3-4 seconds, but it drains battery very fast. So, big question is...which one is better, waiting few minutes for gps signal, or keeping battery alive.

Or, perhaps I'm missing something in settings?

    Regards

and I decided to do it myself gps.conf file and now I've done it for other countries.
Custom rooms mostly coming from the East and Asia so the gps.conf set for these areas. So the GPS signal, the Europeans, long waits due to distant servers.

On the Google play has free applications that perform the same job. What I have set up here is better and faster. Applications configure gps.conf level continents and I gave at the state level.

In order to shorten the time of searching for GPS signal, replace gps.conf file. This requires ROOT device.
On the path sistem/etc find the file gps.conf and save it in another place. With links take gps.conf file your country and put in place the original file. With Root, Solid, ES, etc explorer do permission as the image and reboot device. That's it.

Grrrr, I had to register on other site.... But, never mind. Did as written. On two phones. On both, Igo, and I got signal in less than minute. Great stuff. Thanks a lot. Regards.

Interesting. What phone and android version you got? Are you sure you have true root access, sometimes rooting give partial root access and you should check with root checker or similar program. My battery usage is same when I used proggy but then my phone have wifi turned off and in airplane mode (service turned off) so I use the GPS option not NTP to sync'ed.

Chinese phone. JB 4.2.2 and it is rooted. I tried it again, when I press "Sync time" I got response "No root access. Do you want to set up time manually?"

I tried both, GPS - NTP, and GPS is great. As I said, after using it, Igo finds sat's almost instantly.

Before you install STSP, it says that it "prevent phone from sleeping", so the battery will be empty much faster.

What about a WinCE device? I have a generic GPS receiver running WinCE IgoPrimo 2.4 and experience the same loooong delay in getting signal even if it's showing 7 good satellites.
