    Default TomTom XL (4ET03) questions

This is probably going to be the silliest question you would have heard but is there any chance that these maps (iGO Australia and New Zeland) would work with a TomTom XL (4ET03)? I ask becaus these appear to be TomTom maps. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Only if hell freezes over. Maps for NNG (regardless of provider) are totally different in format than Sygic, Garmin or TomTom.
    Here is comparison chart

I have no intention of freezing up hell :-) Thank you, @osiris4isis you have always been exceptionally helpful. As a final bit of advice, can I ask if I should pick this TomTom XL (4ET03) or not? This guy bought it in the US and has US maps on it. I wish to use the NZ maps on it. And I am getting this device very cheap - about NZ$40 bucks. My Primo unit is dying (battery depletes faster than it gets charged using a good quality car charger) so I am looking for a cheap replacement. Do you think I should grab this TomTom and try to load NZ maps on it? Worth the effort? Thanks a bunch!

Little out of topic, but here is what I think. I believe that TomTom XL core is not cracked yet (ask in TomTom group for sure) Personally I'm not a fan of TomTom, but I do have TomTom One used for testing my hacks/tools for TomTom. Generally, outside Europe, HERE maps are better than TomTom.
Get an android device, you can use TomTom, NNG, Sygic and Garmin proggy on it. This is most flexible route.

Thank you very much. This is what I thought. I guess you are right. Android, indeed, is the way to go. Again, thank you for your patience, and I know this has been completely out of topic. If you think its best, I can delete my posts. Again, thanks a lot. You have greatly helped me with my dilemma.

Default HELP - Should I grab a used TomTom XL (4ET03) with US maps for New Zealand?

    Hello friends,

I am an absolute newcomer to TomTom and I need your help. A used TomTom XL (4ET03) with US maps loaded, is available at a bargain price. I will need to put New Zealand maps on this unit. I am familiar with Primo (WinCE) and know that this is possible. But is it possible with TomTom as well? Will I be able to find and add a cracked New Zealand map to this unit? And is it worth the effort at all?

Any help and guidance is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    SP

All/any TT device that still uses TTHome rather than MyDrive (see here [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] can easily be cracked with latest maps etc subject to there being a relevant meta code for the map you want.

Unfortunately this forum is no longer allowed to post TT map download links so I would suggest an alternative like
    PHP Code:

Thanks, @biggerdave. This is helpful. I can see that the 995 maps for New Zealand are available with Meta Codes so that should be nice. Is there a way I can find out if the 4ET03 runs the NC10? I still have not paid the money for this device and want to be sure that I would not be wasting 40 bucks :-) I have searched the internet but I cannot find the specifications for the 4et03 model. Thanks in advance.

4ET03 is not actually a model/device number BUT if it's an XL then it runs on the older navcores so you'll be fine with it

Thanks, @biggerdave. So I confirmed that my exact model number is: " TomTom XL IQ Routes 2 / XL Classic, 2GB" - GJ being the first two alphabets on the serial number.

And I have confirmed that the v995 maps are available with Meta codes for New Zealand.

So does this mean that I can go for it? A confirmation from you will make me feel very warm and fuzzy :-) Just as a reminder - the GPS I am grabbing has USA maps loaded on to it and I want to erase those and put NZ maps.

    Thanks a ton!
