Default Android emulator On Win 10 running Nextgen

I'm pretty late to the Android party so this could easily be old news to you guys.

I have been having a play with AMIDuOS. I was amazed at how well Nextgen ran on this, 100 times more slick than a WinCe emulator running primo, Fully functional it would appear, though I haven't tested GPS connectivity.

AMIDuOS has an option to connect GPS hardware Via a com port, so i guess that a USB GPS module that creates a virtual com port should do the trick.

(My interest in this emulator is for doing a little tweaking)

Here's 2 screen shots with 2 different dpi settings.

I have managed to test GPS connection using the share GPS app.

Connecting from my phone to my laptop via bluetooth.

Though not perfect, it did work. Probably requires a bit of tweaking.

The navigation map screen briefly "blanked" every 15 or so seconds

It turns out that the problem I mentioned in the above post wasn't the screen going blank but the ocean.

for some reason the GPS management in AMIdos intermittently drops the " - " from the longitude coordinate this has the effect of changing it from West to East of the prime meridian.

This problem seems to disappear by just using the Location service -

turn off GPS hardware support and enable "Location" in AMIdos
activate " location " in Windows 10 settings.

At the moment i don't know whether this method of location is good enough for Nextgen when actually driving a route.

( now using GPS over BT app - free)

image - matched dpi settings - amiduos / nextgen

A while back I bought the AMIDuOS emulator & thought it pretty good,

Unfortunately AMI stopped development & support for AMIDuOS.

Today, by chance, I discovered that AMI are offering the full unlimited version of AMIDuOS for free.

    Pretty cool I thought

(note- if you want Google play store for version 2.0 (64bit) you will need to install gapps-L-4-21-15.zip)

link, as before, in first post.

Amiduos shares a 'Document' folder with the 'DuOSShare' folder on your PC (see image 1)

This folder is created when you install Amiduos.

Locate the DUOSshare folder on your PC and place in it your iGO folder.

Your iGO folder should contain everything you need for Nextgen or Primo to run including a Nextgen or Primo Apk.

Download a file explorer like Total commander [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

With Amiduos running, install the Total Commander Apk. (see image 2)

you may need to go into the settings of Amiduos to allow installation from an unknown source.

once installed launch Total Commander and copy your iGO folder from /storage/sdcard/Documents to /storage/sdcard (see image 3)

Open your newly copied iGO folder and install your Nextgen/Primo Apk.

Default QField (android app) + Trimble R2 + Win10 Tablet

    Hello Morco,
I have tried just about everything to get an android app with live GPS tracking (QField) running on a Windows Laptop. AMIDuOS is my last hope.
I have tried to replicate your descriptions. Unfortunately they don't work for me. Neither using "GPS hardware" with a COM port that is linked to NMEA phrases from shareGPS app. (I have checked with Tera Term that the COM port actually receives the NMEA phrases). Neither by activating "location" in Win10 settings using a default location. AMI DuOS never receives any position information.
My questions: did the direct com port connection with gps signal from share GPS app work for you without any intermittent software? Should AMIDuOS be able to read the NMEA phrases from the port? Is any special setup necessary?
Do you have any tips on what else I could try?
Thanks so much in advance. I'm in desperate need to get QField android app running on a WIN10 Tablet, connected to a bluetooth Trimble R2 GNSS Antenna.

AMIDuOS is too old, without proper drivers
    Try with NOX, or Genymotion...
BUT, if you think this combination will replace your navigation ... you are very wrong.
Use some PC software like OziExplorer

Many questions become very arduous, a lot of time chewed deja vu...Since we have lost all the year of work and effort, many people have no will to answer the same questions again. Me neither. Use a search, please.
