Not stupid at all, in fact it was one of the things that I had already checked. With all external connections completely turned off, so that Google location data shows as unavailable, the GPS position in Sygic Navigation still works perfectly.

No setting in the sys file or any plugins can help.
If the device system does not pass the signal data to the software, it will not function. There can be more reasons. I had the chance to see that even the system launcher blocks access
You should carefully check the settings of the device - only the physical receiver, all online access turned off
Turn off all system restrictions related to applications that do not originate from Google Play. Anyway, try if the edition downloaded from GP will work
Install the apk using a file manager such as X-Plorer (grant it absolutely all permission)
And finally, try with another version
🤔 Is Play Pro disabled in the Play Store app? Otherwise, it might stop/interrupt execution 🤔
Just a thought 😉
Turned off all online access and disabled location access for all apps that use it except for iGO Nextgen. Also turned off Play Protect but alas still no gps.
Next I'll try your suggestion to use the edition downloaded from GP except I'm not sure where to find that. Can you post a link?
read my post #6 completely and understand...😉
I tested all four versions with the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] and none of them found any gps data and that's with all permissions enabled.
This Lenovo M10 Tablet has a ZUI 16 Launcher integrated into Android 14 and I suspect that this is somehow blocking the gps data.
Not to worry, thanks for all the assistance, I just need to accept that it's not going to work on this device.

Although it's Android 14, you can also try installing for example Pal or even regular Primo. It doesn't necessarily mean that Lenovo has discontinued 32bit app support
Unfortunately ZUI 16 is known to have problems.
I installed [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] and with WiFi on the tablet disconnected it gave the following results:
Location source - GPS (device only) - All satellites visible but no location found.
Location Source - Fused (Google) - All satellites found and full location data found.
The tablet appears to be using the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] to combine the different location signals but not providing the raw GPS only signals that iGO Nextgen requires.
I remember, it was some time ago, that a friend had the same problem with a Lenovo Tab: no GPS tracking.
He sent it back and bought a Samsung tablet, and there are no problems with that.
I may consider sending it back, the only problem it seems to have is with iGO which is now a very old application, it runs all other apps requiring gps just fine. I'll give it some more thought.
