VR on android Pie SOLVED ????

I'm having an issue with online services I'm hoping you can help me with.

I had installed this Israel APK you fixed VR on and used the content from here:[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

and the latest pongo skin and corresponding sys.txt from here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

It was working perfectly with VR as well as online services (traffic data and weather). About 2 weeks ago, I had to factory reset my head unit for unrelated reasons, and after reinstalling Israel as I had done before, online service traffic and weather no longer work. I cannot figure out why, I did everything exactly the same way. I replaced the original ux folder with the pongo ux folder and added the content from the pongo skin to the installation content folder, as I had done the first time when everything worked wonderfully. Can anyone help me understand what is going on here and how I can get online services working again? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and not really sure what to try next. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, I am in the US and I'm running this on an android 10 head unit. Any chance the server just happened to go down at the same time?

It has to do with this topic because it’s related to VR and online services, which are both claimed to be working in the OP…

I have been searching for a LONG time and can’t find a solution so figured I would ask…

I don't see you having a problem with VR.
VR only requires appropriate plug-ins, and android is no newer than edition 9.

You have cleared the cache required for the services to function.
Regarding online traffic, requires only a good adjustment in sys file. Ask your countrymen which server they use. Although it has already been commented on here (for USA)
For weather - cache transferred from one of the other versions can help. Or even from some other device.

And first of all, make sure you have assigned all the necessary permissions to the software, absolutely all.
Also, whether the settings in sys file match the current situation.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm not sure I understand what you mean in saying I cleared the cache required for services to function, can you elaborate on that? Also am not sure what you mean about getting cache from another device or app?

What is puzzling here is that previously when this all worked flawlessly I never modified the sys.txt that came with the latest pongo skin (linked previously). Everything just worked, without any modification whatsoever. Now it doesn't, and I have all the same files and followed the same procedure to install the app and the skin that I did the first time. Nonetheless, I have searched and tried every sys.txt TMC settings that I can find, as you recommended, and none of them work either. I'm about ready to just give up. I can't understand why I'm having all this trouble now when the first time everything was plug and play and worked beautifully...

The principles of androids are very fundamentally different from other systems. It's hard to explain linking data in Android so I won't even try.
By resetting the device you deleted the application system cache. All data links and connections have been deleted, and the storages names/references can be changed also....etc.
(The "ghosts" of previous installations can often appear, very strange, so ...)
In order for it to work properly after that, you must also delete the save folder. Of course you can back it up first in case you have some POIs saved, etc.
Or simply make a new clean package.

I would advise you to try another package to start with - for example PAL.

I can't remember on what topic your compatriots commented on the server settings for online services. I'll try to find out later if I have time.
Although I am from Europe and I tested earlier (with FakeGPS & VPN), I had no problems with default settings.

As for transfer cache from another device or from other software, a few files are simply copied from the save folder. A simple trick that, for example, files was transferred from Israel save to Avic and made weather forecast working.

I understand better what you are saying about the cache. I should have been clearer, after doing my factory reset, I did completely clear everything and try a new installation, and still this problem persists. That is why I’m perplexed since it was a clean install and I never had to modify the Pongo sys.txt previously for TMC and weather to work. Allow me to give the procedure I followed for installation, perhaps you can spot a mistake I’m making.

1) Clear storage and cache for iGO and uninstall the iGO app from android settings
2) Delete everything in the iGO_Israel folder (including my save folder) so it is EMPTY
3) Copy original installation files for Nextgen (content, ux, data.zip, etc.) [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
4) Rename application original installation “ux” folder to “ux.old” and “data.zip” to “data.old.zip”
5) Copy “ux” folder, “data.zip” and “sys.txt” from Pongo latest to iGO_Israel folder

6) Copy Content folder from Pongo latest to merge with original application Content folder (I did this rather than REPLACE the original Content folder as it did not work when I tried that, so I just added what was new from the Pongo Content folder to it and it seemed to work)
7) Install iGO app using the APK from this thread OP (non-SD version, no.make.sys)

Something else I’ll mention is that I noticed some differences between various TMC sys.txt settings I found here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
In some cases, the server address, profile_name, and some other things are in quotations “ “ and other cases they are not. I’m not sure if this is a relevant difference or if it works either way and this is just a personal preference in syntax? From what I gather it seems as though the way to work thru this is to try all of the profile names one by one, but do I also need to try with and without “profile_2” or “profile_(some other number)”? Then some settings have upd.enabled=0, some =1, and others don’t include that line at all. Just seems like there are too many possible combinations to practically try. I am really trying to learn this stuff, I apologize for my ignorance…

This does not work for me. The settings I had previously that were working are those in the Pongo sys.txt which I didn’t touch, but don’t work presently (assuming my problem is not elsewhere). As I have been trying these I simply exit iGO (using the menu exit), edit the sys.txt, save it, and then reopen iGO to check if I have traffic events. Perhaps there is something more there that needs to be done when trying the different TMC codes in sys.txt?

I truly appreciate your time and efforts. Apologies for the long post, just trying to give as much detail as possible. I will give PAL a try, as you recommended, in the meantime.

You need to replace the apk with a corrected version.

So are you saying I am doing everything correctly except I need to use the APK at the link you provided? I have seen that thread the only reason I did not use that APK is because the one posted in this thread is more recent and claims to also have online services working AND VR. The OP in this thread even references the thread you linked for historicality, so I thought the APK here was the latest and greatest. Wouldn't the one you linked not have VR fixed like the APK in this thread?

Moreover this doesn't explain why THIS THREAD's APK worked for me previously...I'm really trying here! :)

Both apk are correct. Both are the same edition, look for the one you want on pages #4 and #5.
The thing is that NNG blocked online access to certain editions at the server level at some point.

As this is mainly a European-oriented market (and the Middle East), it first happened in those parts of the world.
It didn't happen everywhere at the same time, because that's the nature of androids and applications.
It's possible, I guess, that something is left cached in your device that prevented the servers from recognizing and blocking the application. It is possible that it was on the white list of servers. We can only speculate.
That would definitely happen, it was only a matter of time,
