If you're interested in the data from tmclite, why don't you try the following one at a time and compare difference

    About routing and TMC, FWIW
By coincidence, my mother in law has also road works almost in front of her door now. Since more than 6 months, 8 or so, we have to choose different route to visit her.
Since a few weeks, works are in her part of the street and day over she is unreachable, at night and in the weekend, she isn't. We can get there by car.
I am not surprised (or, better I am) Sygic shows her street as "open" however we still have to make that one detour. On the other hand, neither NNG products nor Sygic do know part of the normal route is blocked since 8 months or so. Makes me think though.

Yesterday evening, I planned a route on Sygic to a hotel I spent some time once or twice. Not to go there, but to compare Sygic, NextGen and google maps (on PC).
Sygic showed me the normal route +/- 250 kms (, same for NNG, same for google. Going back to Sygic, the route was +/- 300 kms, about 30 minute longer ! Why I don't know. Accident on the road? Who knows? NextGen and google kept saying +/- 250 kms. Sygic insisted on 300 kms. Today it's back to 250 kms.
I wonder if TMC had a influence on Sygics choice of routing.

Another amazing test, as you know we had a festival in my city so it is over now but crews are dismantling everything and. some works are ongoing here. The thing is only half of a previous route is now closed and TOMTOM knows exactly which part is. To. add GOOGLE MAPS too has no information about it. Only Syguc and TomTom Go. This confirms that iGO. tmc is. not reliable but TomTom is. So. maybe combination of those results in very safe route calculation. No. doubt TOMTOM has No. 1 TMC info even superior to Google Maps.

In my area, online TMC works as it should (just tested it two days ago). During peak traffic hours, it show lots of "Delayed" icons and plenty of TMC events. During late night, those events drop significantly. The "world" profile is not as good as the "iphone" profile. I can't compare them to other proggy such as Waze or Sygic since I currently don't use them.

My profile is iPhone but it doesn't show something so local like this. This is just one street in my small. city and tomtom knows it. iGO and GM. shows. some traffic delay and highway events too close to. my city etc but tomtom simply rocks.

Since you bought NNG product, drop them a note about your TMC problem. If you're lucky, they might listen and you get your wishes.

One could swear they want the gray sites to exist so people can at least get new(er) maps.
    Sort of cost reducing policy?

And TMC? Maybe (in general) the idea is that NNG has a working product that (thanks to crackers ) is a good product so maybe they want to let the crackers also solve TMC issues please ?

Problem is on the other side.
TMC is radio signal. For its reception you must have TMC reciever, which do not even have all standalone devices. And as far as I know, TT have the best infos in EU.
What we call TMC on android/ios/etc devices is actually iGO live traffic which goes over the internet servers. Firstly, by the general nature of things, can not be so accurate. There is also the issue of servers, their data, even if we use two active servers, they will showing different information
If they (all participants in the process of distribution) make a general agreement among them, that the TMC signal is converted directly and goes through a some one centralized server and from there onwards...maybe we well have all we need. But...

TMC can be a generic* term, "radio' TMC is RDS. Online TMC (a common** term) is used to indicate traffic without RDS. Same data could be used to generate RDS and online TMC. TomTom is "good" in certain areas because they provide services for PNA devices as well. TomTom "live" is just a marketing hype. It's possible to built a "gateway" that received RDS-TMC, extract data and distributed it via online. Something that NNG can easily do; but it's not legal unless they have permission from vendor such as TomTom (or Garmin)

    * When used in the context of PNA devices (which most are RDS), then it referred to RDS-TMC. When used in context of devices without RDS, then it referred to online-TMC
** For android devices, I do not know of any that does RDS-TMC, so the use of Online TMC is appropriate; if this is wrong, please indicates which android device that can do RDS-TMC
