Yes you have to resize the image for every different location.
In the first post has a loading with the following sizes:
ldpi: 240X240
mdpi: 320X320
hdpi: 480X480
xhdpi: 640X640
xxhdpi: 960X960

You can create an image .bmp format with the resolutions of your device.
I use to explored the file with Windows Explorer, Corel X7.
For example an image to my device is 720X1280
