    Default How to change loading screen and add backrounds

    How to change loading screen and add backrounds:

    First method:
    1.) Find a picture that you like. Downloaded and save it as a bitmap file

    2.) Resize the picture to 800x400. This would depend on your screen size.

    3.) Make a copy of your picture and named it "loading.bmp" . Optionally, use photo software to add the iGo logo.

    4.) Copy "data.zip" and "branding.zip" from your Igo8 SD installation to your computer (Keep a backup copy)

    5.) Using WinRAR (up to version 3.93), open "branding.zip" and find \ui_igo8\800x400 and add "loading.bmp" to the archive overwriting the original "loading.bmp"

    6.) Using winRAR again, opened "data.zip" and found \ui_igo8\800x400\background

    a.)add resized bitmap image to this folder

    b.)while in it if you want get rid of everything you dont need such as backgrounds and other files for screen sizes.

    7.) Copy "data.zip" and "branding.zip" back to SD card overwriting the originals (make sure to keep copies just in case)

    8.) When you start iGo8 you get a fresh new loading screen and background

    Simpler&faster method:

    Insert GPS card into my USB reader, and open the iGO file to reveal the 'Branding.zip' and 'data.zip' RAR files. BUT DO NOT EXTRACT.
    JUST right click on data.zip and select...open with.... Compressed (zipped) folders. this will allow access without 'extracting' the contents.
    you can then go to the ...\ui_igo8_da Folder and select 800x480 folder, and find the image marked...."loading.bmp" then select your new image from your modified graphic, that you also named..."loading.bmp" cut and past to ..800x480 . you will be asked to replace existing file, select yes.
    THEN do the same in the 'Branding.zip' RAR. .AGAIN , DO NOT EXTRACT RAR.
    When you back out of each zip it will save.

    Tutorial written by chenliu - is good, but the proposed method can cause considerable problems that users - who have not mastered the fine work with compressed files.

    Below the third way - where such skills are not necessary!
    Method uses the principle of hierarchy execute commands in iGO.
    It must be remembered that in this program last executed commands and instructions are included in the sys.txt - so adding the appropriate commands to the "command center" and adding the appropriate files - we can bypass the need to bury the branding files or data.
    In this case, we do it in the following way:

    1) Create your custom loading.bmp and exiting.bmp.
    Both must be exactly (in pixels) of the size of your screen resolution (800x480, 480x272, 320x240, etc). You can use any graphics editor you like, but the Resulting images must be Precisely sized to your resolution size, be in 24-bit color depth, and saved as standard "Windows" bmp format. KB in size, the images must be exactly this: 320x240 = 225 KB, 480x272 = 382 KB, 800x480 = 1.09 MB.
    If, after creating / editing / saving, your files are not These KB sizes, you have done something wrong and must start again.

    2) Rename your saved loading.bmp this loading.jpg ... note: do NOT convert the image to JPG, just rename the file!
    2a) Rename your saved exiting.bmp this loading.bmp.

    3) Go to your main {iGO} folder on your device or SD card.
    3a) If there is not already a folder in the root named UI_IGO9, create it ... upper or lower case is irrelevant.
    3b) Inside the folder ui_igo9 Should be a folder with your resolution size (800_480,480_272, or 320_240).
    If this subfolder is not already present, create it ... the underscore "_" Between the numbers is significant_coeff_flag, and no spaces.
    Inside the folder size resolution Should be a subfolder named skin_night subfolder ... if this does not exist, create it.
    3c) The Resulting Should folder structure look like this:
    Primo2 (or whatever your main Primo folder is named)
    > Ui_igo9
    >> 800_480 (or whatever your resolution is)
    >>> Skin_night

    4) Copy your saved loading.jpg and loading.bmp files to both the 480_272 (or whatever your resolution is) and the skin_night subfolders

    5) Open your isnt sys.txt file in a plain text editor and add These lines:

    [Loading]
    loading_bmp = "loading.jpg"

    5a) Save your sys.txt.

    6) Start Primo You should see your new loading screen.
    7) Exit Primo You should see your new exiting screen.

    If you do not see your new custom screens (either and both), you have done something wrong ... review the steps.
    If you are sure that you 'have followed the steps exactly, and you are still not seeing your custom loading / exit screens, you apr be using some kind of customized data.zip and / or branding.zip That makes normal editing / operation more difficult or impossible.
    So there is Method I or II

    Default Guide for Android

    Let's start with the resolution of your device:

    1 - In sys.txt file in rawdisplay line you have this:

    [rawdisplay]
    force_renderer="RENDER_MOYA"
    driver=engine
    ;screen_xy="800_480:1180x670/720x1120"
    ;screen_xy="1148_768:1196x670/720x1134"
    ;screen_xy="800_480:1280x674/720x1234:fullscreen"
    ;screen_xy="1184_672:1196x670/720x1136"
    screen_xy="1184_672:1196x670/720x1134"

    These are the resolutions that should stay on the images 1196x670/720x1134

    Must have an image editor example [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (free), etc...

    NUVI Insert a start animation for the Android

    Insert a start animation for the Android system.

    It is important to know that the folder iGO / ui_android overruled the Data.zip
    For the Android system, also you can insert a start animation.

    It is for 1280 x 800 and 800 x 1280, tested with a Samsung Galaxy Tab3 Device and HTC One X+
    Top left, you can see your animated avatar. It moves, but the start screen appears only very briefly.
    The name of the original images is unchanged, but there are other images.
    The position of the animation can be moved with the coordinates x and y in the sys.txt.

    Code:

    The *.bmp can have any size, it is not a gif to bmp.
    You can create the test.bmp even so how would your fantasy.

    In the test.spr exists this entry:
    Stripes = 120
    An image has a height of 120 pixels. Top to down always 120 pixels height, accuracy is important.
    If you change the height of the image, then you must also change the Stripes.

    1) Create your custom loading.bmp and exiting.bmp.

    2) Rename your saved loading.bmp this loading.jpg ... note: do NOT convert the image to JPG, just rename the file!
    2a) Rename your saved exiting.bmp this loading.bmp.
    I can not get any success with the instructions above.
    My phone has 320x480 resolution. So I guess 480x272 pictures won't work, right?
    Also, renaming loading.bmp to loading.jpg.bmp, or just loading.jpg?
    In sys.txt file to add lines with quotation marks or without them?
    [Loading]
    loading_bmp = "loading.jpg"
    And these two files must be placed in data.zip archive, right?

    Thank you.

    Hello Nx4,

    You are in windows or android?
    What iGO version are you using?

    Did these images in .bmp format with the following resolutions 320_480 - 480_234 - 320_240

    Rename the image to "loading.bmp" with the resolution of your device and places within the file data.zip

    data.zip / ui_igo9 / "resolution" / loading.bmp
    data.zip / ui_android / "resolution"/ loading.bmp

    Place in the sys.txt do you think most appropriate:
    Code:
    Please Login or Register to see the links
    And do not get too long in water can create gills

    I wanted to add an addendum here. In the later android versions, it is using "loading_m3.bmp" as the loading file and it's oversized. The 800x480 is actually 960x600.

    Actually it is using what is specified in
    Spoiler: .

    data.zip: multimode.ini
    Code:
    Please Login or Register to see the links
    Example for 800x480 (landscape) it's m3 and 480x800 (portrait) it's m4. So you would reference loading_m3.bmp for landscape and loading_m4.bmp for portrait.
