Default Myria M7014 cannot "lock" on satelites after suspend - SOLVED

    Hello guys and galls,

I have recently purchased the GPS unit from the title. The online shop selling it advertised: "No maps included".
I thought OK, no worries, I grab some maps from the www and give them a go.

Once I started the device I found some old CRACKED version of IGo Primo and some maps from 2012. I got a "kit" having version 9.6.13.267029, but I don't remember if it was from this forum or some other.
Grabbed some updated maps, a new global.cfg (from your site) and get them installed on the internal memory using only 4 maps that I know I would need. No skins or other addons.
Unit specs are: WinCE 6.0, 128Mb RAM, 4Gb ROM

All works almost great until I stop the engine and the unit goes into suspend or shutdown during a route. After power recovers, the software continues to run perfectly but it cannot lock-on to the GPS signal anymore. Both in Igo and in device system "Info GPS" the unit sees between 6 and 8 satellites, but they are red, not green and they disappear every about 10 seconds, then gradually reappear.. Sometimes, if I delete the destination, the GPS resumes updating the location, but not always. Not even the RESET button works, as the software presents the same red satellites with the same reset procedure every few seconds.

Is this unit defective or is my software somehow broken? I originally thought the unit is bad, but that cannot be repaired (sometimes) by deleting the destination...

I'll post my SYS.TXT a bit later, right now I can't find my USB cable

    Oh, found it...

I still do not understand why users think the sys file has the most impact

Finding a good choice of software for your device is not always easy.
For example, my friend has some Chinese model, Bear. There was same version on it like yours, 9.6.13.267029. But he was dissatisfied with it.
I put on it a couple of popular versions (KIA, Civic). Bit, it turned out to lose a signal with them, it can not find the satellites, to find them and lock it takes 5 minutes, and so on...
After a couple of unsuccessful driving, one evening when I had time, I took all the variations I have and started to try them out. Literally, from iGO8, via Primo 1.0, 1.2, 2.0 several versions, 2.4 bunch of releases.
The final result was that with version 9.6.13.351648, as soon as I turn on the device, it already has a fixed signal!
But, very strange thing, iGO was wrong for 10 m. All the time.
So I continued experimenting, and found that with the version 9.6.13.319729 it took about 15-20 seconds to catch the signal, but it is very accurate, and all the problem was gone.

There is an additional problem for you.
Namely, that in such cases everything worked as expected, required the good cooperation between system launcher and the software.
In addition, it may happen that the device itself has problems, or that after going to sleep mode it fails to activate the gps chip as good. In that case, the device must be switched off, and then, of course, it starts again. That is problem with unit and here it's hard to do something.

Before asking a question, know it's already discussed here and at 99.9% is not unique. Use search.

Many questions become very arduous, a lot of time chewed deja vu...Since we have lost all the year of work and effort, many people have no will to answer the same questions again. Me neither. Use a search, please.

Hi Boki_Srb and thank you for your fast reply.

I didn't say or expect that SYS.TXT had anything to do with it, but forum rules specify to give as many details as possible...

I have tried 2 or 3 other versions but I found that every one of them had other problems that were too annoying to fix or live with so I tried this one. It worked great for about 7 hours until I had to stop for gas. The only way to resume proper operation was to disconnect the power to the unit and leave it ON until battery was depleted. After that, powered it up, started and everything worked again, including GPS location. The unit is quite quick to lock on after power on, when working...
Nothing else worked, not reset button, not EXIT from IGo and then power off, not the GPS "reset" button from device system launcher.

During the time the GPS detects only the red satellites, the position calculated is random (different on every 10-15 second reset) and very far from my real location, despite the fact that the numbers on top the satellites graph bars show similar values to the green satellites (30+). Right now I am leaning towards a hardware or system problem since the same behavior is shown in system launcher GPS applet, without even loading IGO.

I will keep on trying different versions and see what happens... will keep you updated on the progress.
Meanwhile, if someone else has some idea, let me know. Ill be happy to experiment...
In case I will not find a working software or setting this year, I'll just return the device and get another one. Not that I expect any positive change in quality looking at the purchase price (less than 50 euro retail)

Hi all, just wanted to give you an update as it seems I was able to dispose of the problem by installing NextGen version of IGo. Now the device does not "search" forever for satellites after suspend or shutdown.
The version I have installed was downloaded from here but I don't remember the exact version.

PS: Is there a way that I can mark the thread as SOLVED?
