From what I'm seeing, it doesn't even look like iGo is trying to run - it looks like thinigs are erroring out before iGo can run. Maybe the maplaunch.ini is not the same format that I've seen on my Rosen units.

At some point, it looks like iGo *did* at least try to run (since crash.txt was previously created) - but we're not even getting that far now. Somehow, it at least attempted to run when it was under the iGo8 directory... So I think we're going backwards. :-)

We need to figure out what the expected dir name and executable name are before we go much further... If crash.txt is not being created, then I don't think iGo is running at all.

Found this on the net... Worth a shot:

    the maplaunch.ini
open notepad and paste this :
just change the parameters according to what you have

[*navigation software name*] - just a name not really changes anything
path = *folder name*\*EXE name*.exe - the path for the executable file that runs the navigation software
bmpiconpath = *folder*\*file name*.bmp - the path for the icon of the software
showname = *Display name* - the name that will be displayed on the screen

so if you have an "igo.exe" file in a folder called "navi"
and "icon.bmp" file in a folder called "navi"
your file should look like this:

    [igo]
    path = navi\igo.exe
    bmpiconpath = navi\icon.bmp
    showname = iGO

    then click File > Save
Save as type : All Files (*.*)
    the name is "maplaunch.ini"
    Save

Copy the file to the root of your SD card and thats it
Hope I covered it all :]

it has now made a navi_map.cfg
i am able to get past the touch screen calibration setup. it now says "sorry, No maps found! on a black background with a windows popup box. i have maps in the map folder.

Im starting to think this white box at startup with the letter "a" in it is to do with the second part of the maplaunch where its trying to link to the icon? i do not have this file in the root or anywhere and i dont have a folder called ui.

only place i have ui folder is inside the following

    branding.zip
    Spoiler: pic5

Ive also tried various file names:
    nng : nngnavi.exe
    iGO8 : iGO8.exe
    NAVI : NAVI.exe
    navi : nngnavi.exe
    DESTINATOR : DESTINATOR.exe
(with all of the above i have changed details in the maplaunch.ini also.

the original crash file was already present so im guessing the SD i purchased off ebay he had just copied everything over. so the original crash doc could be his/hers as i think it gave the date as 2003 at the top?

crash file wise since i downloaded iGO8 from here and moved maps over from my copy, it would'nt make a new crash file. so i created on myself but its not getting details. like you say, maybe the software isnt running? but then if its trying to find maps?

likewise with the device.nng originally in root i was told to delete has not come back. i have a backup should i need to place in root again though.

NAVI_MAP.cfg appears to be empty when i open with notepad

Thanks for all the help so far though guys. really appreciate it

This is not like mentioned in post #11 NNG\nngnavi.exe

Good catch! Yes, the "nng" folder should be off of the root directory.

You have good eyes, Jeanet, pictures are small
But I think he already tried that solution, judging by the pics, link from post#7
Let him first try to correct location of folders, again.

    If still no working:
    - unit is old, it was mainly placed in Opel/Vauxhall cars, Astra and clones from 2008-...
It would not be bad to ask in the specialized forums. There were more variants of this device, in one I even saw file HBS.txt, responsible for path.

Also, try with name igo_pna.exe, directly in root.

    P.S.
Card must be ordinary SD, not SDHC. 2GB are available, 4GB are rare and very expensive. Maybe on that unit are functioning sdhc, but...
    Demongorgan, is secret menu working?
    Spoiler: YT

Casca unit(s) doesn't have navigation files in parent directory...all igo folders and files (including .exe) are directly on SD root.

morning guys got all excited when i saw that post about double file name! but unfortunately not, no idea why it was showing SDHC\nng\nng path is just: SDHC\nng\(all relivant files)

@Borki_Srb yup i have access to the secret menu although have no options in there that allow me to point to correct path, it was where i got the units official name from though. I work in an IT dept so I'm sure i can russle up an old style SD card today. i think the unit supports SDHC as it picks up when the card is inserted and when an ini file is not present on card. when ini in root it then goes through and tries to launch. it also writes the cfg to root which is a good sign. but i will try anyways just to cross it from the troubleshoot list.

yes this unit was designed to fit in vauxhalls specifically. Ive tried on opel and Vxr forums and even the caska forum. dosnt seem to be much info to go on other than file paths, I've tried contacting caska a few days ago but as with other members on these forums they have had little joy getting a response. I have considered just buying the navigation software from caska for £50 as still showing in stock as its says its for the VXMMI however it does not say whether it supports the gen 2 which is mine or the gen 4 when is in that youtube clip above. its says its sygic or somthing.

@janch Thanks buddy, I will gie this a go at work today providing i can find an SD-usb reader in the bits draw of forgotten tech!

does anyone know where i can get this UI folder from? ive downloaded lots of versions but non include this.

anyways will try in root and report back

Janch screenshot is from Primo folder
UI and ui_igo9 folders you can create by yourself. Dedicated to customization of look and for some addons. Not mandatory, depends of iGO version and your wishes.
