This is how I understand driver alerts work; there are two modes: prewarn (icon is B&W) and warn (icon is color). Prewarn distances can be set. Warn is fixed (exact sign) location. It's behaving as it's designed. Under NextGen, I have options to set the prewarn distances for 4 different classes of driver alerts: Curves and Corners, Lanes and Overtaking, General Warnings and Traffic and Crossing. This is done under Settings->Warnings->Road Signs. Sorry I don't remember where to set this under iGO/Primo because I don't use it now. You can also modified the distances under sys.txt

Your understanding of how drivers alerts are SUPPOSED to work is the same as mine. The issue being discussed here is that on several different android devices using different programme versions, the "fixed" warning point is some 50 metres past the actual hazard regardless of direction of travel.
This delay does not seem to occur on WinCE.
We would be intertested to know what OS and programme version you are using and whether it shows the same error.

No problem using NextGen9.18.27.687519-Gift(26Jan2017), NextGen9.18.27.689739-Basarsoft(10Feb2017) nor NextGen9.18.27.693527-World(14Mar2017) Running on android 4.4.2
The "past" is not right, pretty much all of warns I encountered are exactly where the signs on the street are (map is HERE 2016.Q3 USA)

Thanks that's a great help. I'll try one of those versions of NextGen on android and that will confirm whether its device or programme.
I don't use nextgen normally because there is no fully cracked version for the WinCE navigator I use on my motorbike, and no licenses for my country

It's not about the Warning Sign Alerts, it's about the Driver Alert Signs (fda file), which is something different.

The best way I have found to get a preliminary alert for the Driver Alert Signs was to use the Doupas skin, and the TTS Pro settings -> Read Out DA Signs -> "Method Approach - Preliminary". This way the TTS voice reads the traffic signs when the black&white icon appears, and there is a distance long enough before the real road traffic sign appear.

And what is "Warning Sign Alerts?" Post screenshot of those signs. What I said are for driver alert signs* taken from .fda files and if you read and understand what I wrote, it's correct. What you described is for Primo skin (which many skins provide as well, not just Doupas) and what I said is for NextGen. In both cases, the settings in sys.txt will works!! Your original post was about "delay" which I explained possible reason why. As I said there are two modes: prewarn and warn. Both should occurred BEFORE the actual sign. If you are seeing it AFTER the sign, there is some other problem. But you CAN adjust the distances per my post. If you want to hear announcement when in prewarn (by using a skin that supports it), that's fine too (most of us don't)

    * I don't recall saying anything about "Warning Sign Alerts"

News flash: driver alerts sign comes in 4 classes: Curves and Corners, Lanes and Overtaking, General Warnings and Traffic and Crossing

But using this configuration or sys.txt settings makes no difference, the icons have the same delay when are shown on map:

And here are other settings for similar warnings, but at a different section of iGO menu:

Your "delay" problem is caused by something else. You can ask the people who made the skins and they will tell you those settings are for road signs!
Try not using any skin and put settings in sys.txt to see if it help.

That is speedcam alerts and has nothing to do with road signs. The only "similar" things about it is its presentation on the screen. Doesn't even use same data nor mechanism as road signs warning.
