    Default SD card size

    Does the size of the SD card in primo make any difference to the overall performance. Thanks for looking.

    Of course. If it is bigger or smaller, it can not fit :P

    Sorry, but your question is wrongly expressed. You're actually thinking of capacity.
    Generally has no effect. Even when the chip which is built very fast, that will not have any impact because the information transmitted to screen does not require huge amounts of data.
    Most have an impact if the card is very poor quality. No name chinese, extremly slow, damaged...
    And normaly, if it is some very old device, it can have a limit in terms of the maximum supported capacity, or type of card.

    @eos:
    In addition to the information from Boki_Srb (Thx Mate):

    If "overall performance" - you understand also "how many countries" includes the installed program - then the answer is "YES" - SD card capacity is important! (The map of each country is located on the SD card, so the card has more capacity - more maps will fit.
    Other - As Boki_Srb wrote

    Something interesting I've found with Primo on WinCE... On WinCE5, the startup time is greatly affected by the number of maps "installed". On WinCE6, Primo startup time is the same whether there is 1 map installed or 50 maps installed. So the number of maps installed doesn't necessarily affect performance once the app is up and running - and only affects the Primo startup time on WinCE5.

    At least that has been my experience with 2DIN WinCE units...

    SD* card only comes in only one form factor* (aka physical size), so the "size" you're referring to is storage size. And yes it does, smaller sizes are usually faster. But is it fast enough to not get a larger size? No, if you find a good price on larger size, get it because you might need extra space for maps. What's important is the speed rating of the card. Higher the Class**, the better the "performance." Also my experience tell me to not fill the card to full capacity, stop at around 90%.

    * I'm assuming you're referring to SDHC for 4GB or higher
    ** The Class rating is a guideline not a certification, so one manufacture Class 10 might be slower than another at Class 8. I recommend sticking with name brand that you find reliable and beware of counterfeits. Case in point, Samsung EVO; if it's originally from Samsung, it's one of the best card but there are many chinese counterfeits on ebay.

    Do not PM me with questions. That's what a forum is for.

    Yeah, OS is more optimized. But, there is one more factor Hardware.
    CE5 based devices are based on much older generation. Slower CPU, slower memory, slower controllers.
    CE6: dual core CPU of new gen, much much faster the rest of hardware. Some parts are even 20x times faster then previous generation. It is particularly noticeable in the communication between internal storage and OS.
