just a guess though..
I am using primo 22.214.171.1246752 on an android head unit, and whenever I switch to another app I hear "gps signal lost (in german )" and navigation is interrupted. When I change back it resumes after a couple of seconds.
The only thing I could find in sys.txt that seems to relate is background_navigation=1
Any ideas on how to fix that would be greatly appreciated.
just a guess though..
I would like to know how to solve this problem as well. I don't know if one of following will do this job
Update: look like an android process running in background needs to talk to android service to get gps position data. If iGO doesn't implement it, there is no way for iGO to get gps position in background even it is running (in background) OK.

Maybe you could inform us in what manner you switch to an other app in Android?
He have head unit device (in car I guess). So, probably by pushing a button on it, or he has built in menu for it.
Sorry for the late reply, but I didn't have time to play around with my satnav until now.
I have a 2din headunit running android 4.4.2
I start igo, then the gps icon appears in the infobar. when I press the home button the icon disappears and ~10s later i hear the gps signal lost sound from igo.
I tried to put in the extra lines in my sys.txt, but it didn't help. Any more ideas?
...i tried forcing the gps to stay active by using activegps, but that doesn't help. the gps icon stays in the notification bar tough. Could it be that igo is accessing the gps directly and not through the location provider?
I have phone with Android 4.4.2 and reason for same problem is that whenever Primo goes in background (receiving call, home button, switching to another app, ...), then GPS receiver goes OFF, same way as when exiting Primo, so GPS signal is lost.
That could be seen in status bar.
In my sys.txt:

@ Lumpi and Easy,
Maybe Lumpi the following might help you as well:
In this section of your sys.txt there are the semicolons missing. It should read as follows:
The use of semicolons before a line prevents the lines of execution, so in fact it acts as a remark and not a command.
Change this and let us know if this helps.

Sorry, but it is not working (as I expected).
When iGo is not in foreground, GPS receiver (icon in status bar) turns off and GPS signal is lost again.
In Android "Settings -> Location -> Mode" I have set "High accuracy (Use GPS, WiFi, and mobile networks ...)"
And if I change to "Device only (Use GPS ...)" nothing changes.
Just to be precise:
Igo program and navigation is working in background, but it just turns off GPS receiver somehow, and I get voice message that GPS signal is lost.
