    Default Newbie help please

    Hiya,

Hopefully you knowledgeable lot will be able to help me out.

I have iGo Primo 2.4 on a Sino Smart unit (from China) in my Insignia & I keep getting a message come up about POI MAP DISTANT.BMP which causes the software to crash when you get rid of the message window. It only happens when it's directing me, not when it's just showing the map with no route planned.

Any advice on how to sort this problem out would be greatly appreciated.

    Mark

you should provide a full directory listing.

without this, there are 4 options that spring to mind to try (if you can be bothered):

    1. disable POIs in your settings
    2. rename content/skins folder
    3. rename ux folder
    4. rename branding.zip

other than this, you can also try an alternative build. I will PM you a working link for NEXTGEN and UK content for WinCE. Place this on a (fresh) SD card and run the exe file.

Obviously data.zip file from your iGO Primo is missing "poi_mapdistant.bmp" file. You can add it manually:

    - make a backup of your data.zip
    - download poi_mapdistant.rar (in the attachment) and extract it to your windows desktop
    - open your data.zip with winrar v3.90 (it must be lower version than 4.x!!) --> [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
    - do not extract data.zip, just open it!
    - navigate inside the archive to \ui_igo9\common\
    - now drag file "poi_mapdistant.bmp" into folder \common\
    - also drag the same file "poi_mapdistant.bmp" into folder \ui_igo9\800_480\
    - click "ok" and close winrar window

    - now copy updated data.zip in your Primo folder (replace current one).

Done, that error should be history now..

Thanks guys, I'll give both a try.

I've had a couple of other messages pop up recently, both failed to open :-

    ico_Zoom_In.bmp#3

    $poi_Rob_fav_dis.spr

These only appeared when navigating the menus while I was trying to change some settings. The 2nd one happened when I was scrolling through the main list of poi categories.

I would give you a directory listing but I'm doing this from memory as the sd card is in the unit in the car.

    Thanks again,

    Mark

From your experience with the current iGO software glitches it's really better that you install iGO Primo from scratch, using any of the recent versions (9.6.13.405512 for eg.). If these problems with your current iGO appeared recently, than most probably data.zip became corrupted somehow or maybe even SD card itself..
