Review Custom speedcam/category files - looking for UK testers

    Latest Update on Post #5

I have created a custom speed camera poi sys.txt and icon package for the UK, is is based on the standard category types but tweaked with different poi/listings.

I would be grateful if anyone form the UK can test this out for me and see if it works for them. I have placed this in the general igo discussion thread as this is still in test mode so needs to be discussed.

the main speedcam.txt and sys.txt file are listed below along with the individual poi txt files and the edited data.zip file

In theory if you add the data file and speedcam.txt to your system, and edit your sys.txt with the edited categories it should work.

as requested ,ive had a quick test with an emulator.but not out on the road yet.

    1/ speedcam.txt and sys.txt categorys seem fine .

2/ speedcam spoken & visual alert, not yet tested.

3/ your customised speedcam icons on map are not visible, showing a default speedcam icon instead.

4/ customised speedcams not present in alert point settings> alert types

5/ alert point information using default icon

    my ideas for fixing this
    *******************

    speedcam icons on map -
    -------------------------

unfortunately I think you have customised the wrong speedcam icon strip (speedwarn.bmp) , needs to be speedwarn1.bmp
also you need to customise keeping the background transparency otherwise you get a black square behind your speedcam image. Then return it back to the 'igo' bmp format (rle bitmap).

i use iPAQ 31x Image Explorer, save to png then edit with paintshop pro.

alert point settings> alert types -
    -----------------------------------

add your customise speedcams to the variable_def.ui & customise speedwarn_list.bmp , should fix this

    alert point information -
    -------------------------

customise the speedwarn4_list.bmp , should fix this

    some help
    ************

ive done a little ux addon for you which i hope will help your project. using a ux addon allows you to use a regular data.zip and makes it easy to edit and expand upon.

it is only for 480_272 and contains only category 20 of your customized speedcams (low bridge) but can easily be edited to add more screen resolutions and categories.
it also has an overide for the variable_def.ui , which also can be easily edited to add more categories

    Spoiler: download ux

Thanks for looking into this for me.... I have edited the bmp with the icons and also edited the ui file in the ux you sent, however when i transfer it to my system and load igo it comes up as a problem with the speedcam_extra.ui file, so not sure if its corrupt or not. Have attached it below for you to check over.

    yeah the file was corrupted,
try editing without decompressing the zip .open with WinRAR double click on file and use notepad.
    here it is fixed

on quick look, no display of your icons. I will look into it tomorrow

    regards morco

    EDIT

icons on map are there ,
I was wrong about black border around icons , your standard ' .bmp ' works fine !

Default iGO 23 alert points (23 Category types)

I have had a good play about with the files and think it is complete now.

I have created 23 alert points (23 Category types) and they are as follows:-

Type (Category) 1 - Fixed Speed Cameras
    Type (Category) 2 - Red Light/Speed Camera
Type (Category) 3 - Red Light Camera
Type (Category) 4 - Average Speed Camera
Type (Category) 5 - Mobile Speed Camera
Type (Category) 6 - Railway Crossing
Type (Category) 7 - Bus Lane Camera
Type (Category) 8 - Accident Blackspot
Type (Category) 9 - School Zone
Type (Category) 10 - Variable Speed Camera (these are cameras that speed is NOT fixed so could change from 30 to 50 or reverse and you may be unaware - you get them for example on M6 near Birmingham and also M25)
Type (Category) 12 - Toll Booth
Type (Category) 13 - Hospital Zone
Type (Category) 14 - Fire Station
Type (Category) 15 - Congestion Charge Zone
    Type (Category) 16 - Tunnel
Type (Category) 20 - Low Bridge
Type (Category) 21 - Width Restriction (useful for larger vehicles so gives warning prior to being stuck)
Type (Category) 22 - Weight Restriction (useful for larger vehicles so gives warning prior to being stuck)
Type (Category) 23 - Speed Bumps
Type (Category) 25 - D2S Speed Camera (A new kind of camera in the UK, you get two lines on road and by time you see them its too late, no signs are displayed for this type of camera)
Type (Category) 26 - Electric Recharge Station (for electric cars)
Type (Category) 27 - Dangerous Bend
Type (Category) 28 - ADR Restrictions (useful for vehicles who carry hazardous goods, gives warning prior to restriction so can divert)

any or all features above can be disabled by going into settings/Sounds and Warnings/Alert Point Settings/Alert Types and change things there.

Currently all locations are in one speedcam.txt file (attached) except for 16 which there is no data yet.

All data is for the UK but easily adaptable for international use by just changing the type code on your data files to what is above.

Instructions for anyone else willing to try this out

UX File (copy this into your ux folder or create a folder called "ux" in your igo root folder)
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

speedcam.txt (copy this into your speedcam folder in the main contents folder)
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

You can alternatively place each individual category file in your speedcam folder instead of the full text file above, that way it makes it easier to update individual files.

urbexuk speedcam.txt there is only one type of the camera (1). If I well understand your intention.
I do not see where you're going by ui_igo9 folder

    ux/ux/speedcam_extra ??????

    not sure I understand?

all you need to do is transfer the speedcam_extra.zip into the ux folder and thats it, you do not need to extract it or edit it.

as for the speedcam.txt file, it contains all 23 types, not just one camera, it has all of the categories as listed above. over 45,000 locations

    Look your files

    X,Y,TYPE,SPEED,DirType,Direction
    -3.74547,40.47447,1,0,0,0
    2.13210,41.37058,1,0,0,0
    2.12711,41.38523,1,0,0,0

    1 - Type (Category) 1 - Fixed Speed Cameras

Only the camera will be seen. Other categories do not have to file.

I honestly do not understand what you mean.

have you tried it on your unit?
