If it works, and you want more than just 'basic', you will have to perform and post the translation procedure posted earlier. Or get somebody to do it for you. Then I can add the translated material to the voice file.

There is no such thing as a 'male or female' NextGen voice file. The voice (gender, etc) is controlled by whatever TTS Engine and voice you have installed as the Android System TTS..the Nextgen voice file is merely a template that uses the installed Android voice.

    @Mike Hunt and other "insiders":

I still have some problems with TTS.
For example there is a menu Settings->Warnings->Alert Points->Test TTS where you can test some TTS speakouts.

I've at least two tests that are never spoken: "Speed Braker" and "Red Light Camera"
Where the hell are they defined? I've spent hours and hours but without any success yet.....

After many, many testing I found out some things:
    1. Everythign before the = in a translation is case sensitive (for example 'Bus lane camera="Busspurüberwachung"' != 'Bus Lane Camera="Busspurüberwachung"')
    2. Quite much of the strings to translate can be obtained from "tts-speedcam-eng.zip" file. But not all. Other translation strings came from Language files ("Lang_German.zip" for example)

Does anyone knows the place(es) where the rest of the strings can be found? I already unpacked and greped through the archives with less luck yet....
Does anyone knows a way to plan a route where most of the translatons can be tested?

By the way here is my improved, updated, hand-translated german voice file. Copy it into content/voice/ folder
German TTS voice Ver.1.2 (01.10.2015) [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Both of those work for me. If they are not working for you, you must have changed something in the dictionary.voice file within the *voice.zip or within the speedcam*.zip UX file that you should not have. Both of those are tied together..change one, and it will make the other not work.

Never change anything to the left of the "=". You will break it. Some of the trigger phrases come from data.zip, and some come from skins/UX files.
The only 'translations' that should ever be done, are anything to the right of "=" in the dictionary.voice file. If you tinker with other files (language, data.zip or anything else), you run the risk of a domino affect of errors and faults.

Your posted voice file does not work for me..does not even show up as a choice.
So I took your dictionary.voice and plugged it into a German voice file that does work for me, and indeed some of the Warnings in TTS Test are not vocalized. So your errors are (at least) within the dictionary.voice.

    For example:
    Speed bump ahead.=
    Should be:
    Speed bump Ahead.=
Also, there is a lot of repetition and combinations that do not exist with an association anywhere that I know of such as these:
Red light camera ahead. Reduce your speed.=
Red light camera and speed enforcement area ahead.=
Dictionary.voice is a 'first come, first served' sort of thing. If there is repetition, the first is used regardless of what comes after.
The more concise it is..with only the necessary and currently applicable entries (such as removing old WinCE lines and entries from skins which no longer are valid), the better it is and the easier to track down errors. The one I posted in the "Translate" post is such a result...everything known to be not necessary was removed. And currently everything (except "Read out quick detour" which I have not yet solved) works.

Interestingly the zip provided by me above works for me.

Anyway to short things up: I took your english voice files from this post [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

After enabling I noticed that quite few Speed CamTTS Pro Test items are not working. Instead of searching over and over could you point me to your latest working version of "tts-speedcam-eng.zip" and it's counterpart, the "Voice_TTS-nua-eng*" please?! I guess I'm not on the latest at all.

Another thing I noticed yesterday: NextGen announced road works on motorway A7 here in germany with the following Voice (please take it just like you read)
"exclamation mark on A7. Road works..." In fact this seems to be another bug anywhere in TTS...

    See here:

    and/or here:

Obviously there must be a line that starts with a "!" (which is not a variable that I know of).

My guess would be that instead of !, it should be %s, OR, a word or phrase instead of ! such as something like
    =Slow down! on {road variable}. Road works..
And maybe the word(s) before the exclamation mark got accidentally cut out.
Where this would actually be located, I don't really know since I have never had it happen, but it sort of seems like it would come from a TMC announcement since maps generally have no clue about "road works".
The only thing that I have in dictionary.voice that would maybe be applicable are these:
    Roadworks ahead.="Road construction ahead."
    Roadworks ended.="Road construction ended."
Are those used by TMC which then adds the road name? I don't know.

I tried using kph instead of mph and it worked but is not much use to me living in UK.
I also on my WinCE device changed it to kph and the announcement of the speed limit works. If this works with kph, then the problem surely can't be with the TTS voice file, could this be a bug in the app itself?

If you are talking about a voice file from one of my posts:
Did you put tts-speedcam-eng.zip in your UX folder, and remove any other *tts-speedcam*.zip files?
To test for sound (with correct files in place), go to Settings>Warnings>Alert Points>Test TTS and tap each category. If you hear a voice, it is working as it should. If not, or if you do not even have those choices to tap, something is wrong.
Keep in mind the French voice files I posted are original NNG source files and very basic (I only added the speedcams), If you want a full TTS experience with Driver Alerts and other features, you will have to translate the file from here:

Then you are in the wrong thread. This is for TTS.
I don't not use TTS, so I can't help you and none of the files in this thread will help you.
    Maybe see here:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ]
Will it work as shown for NextGen? Probably not without some modification, (such as any path with /ui_android/ should be /ui_nextgen/, and maybe some other changes), but maybe the author there can help you.
