This is the old thread, but some feedback could be useful
Using R-Link 2 (Android based) with custom maps.
I am mixing fbl, fsp and fpa files of different providers for the same country, and it is working well for more than a year. As TomTom do not provided fpa files for some countries in 2021.06 and 2021.12, I added the adequate HERE fpa files and it working without a single glitch.
As far as i was able to read in some iGo specifications, it seems that regardless of the provider, the files that will be used must follow the standard specified by the iGo, so it seems that it is not important who the provider is as long as the files are designed to meet particular iGo specification
Hopefully, this could be useful for guys who are preparing the maps on its own
Are you sure? I use tomtom map and the fpa from here map, when I check the license info is grey.
You must install the adequate license files for both maps, TomTom and Here, i.e. if your .fpa file is from HERE 2021.Q4 map, than you must have license file for HERE 2021.Q4 map

The files in the "map" folder must be from the same provider and have the same quarter as the .fbl file. Otherwise they will not be recognized. You can use other poi and buildings.
You just didn't notice........
Maybe read back a few posts
Eactly. Complete nonsense.
Today, it is impossible to use map addons of different providers. iGO recognize them, but... Only one type can be in function (in use).
They are all (fda/fpa/fsp...) defined in software as fbl files.
So, will somebody explain me how it is working without causing me any problems?
There are no problems, the "wrong" files are "ignored" by the software. You can also pack mp3 files into the folder......there are no problems either.
Remove your .fpa, fsp files and you won't see any difference in route planning and navigation.
