    Does it hurt to put a bunch of .dem files into the dem folder? For example, do I need to put Basemap_North_America_CGIAR_2006.06_081103.dem AND United States Premium 2006.06.dem into folder? Do I need both base map and file or will the United States Premium 2006.06.dem be enough?

    I started with only USA_CGIAR_Premium_2006.06_090313.dem and then put this in my sys.txt file:
    [map]
    3d_buildings=1
    3d_landmarks=1
    3d_dem=1 ; 3D terrain
    3d_dem_detail=3 ; detail of 3D terrain (0 = none, 1 = low, 2 = medium, 3 = high)

    But it does not work. I have iGo Primo 9.6.13.405512. When I look in content while in the iGO Primo, I can see that the .dem file is recognized and active. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

    Basemap.dem should be recognized, but premium DEM usually require license.
    You don't need premium, use USA_83_CGIAR_081010.dem .
    Larger DEM (premium) slows device.

    I am not sure if there is a conflict if you put few DEM of same region, but if you have standard DEM, you don't need basemap.

    I will try adding USA_CGIAR_2006.06_081010.dem from post #64. It doesn't contain USA_83_CGIAR_081010.dem, but my guess is that it is the same as what you suggested. Also, I will remove base file and also the premium files. Thank you for your guidance!

    If under About->Content it showed (and not red), then it's not licensing issue. Do this
    Put only one at a time under the content/dem/ directory and see if it show correctly
    If it does show correctly under various zooms, select the one you see* best. Generally "premium" is better, but not always. For DEM only the following is relevant
    3d_dem=1
    3d_dem_detail=1 ; start with low and go up

    * NNG DEM's are just eye candy, no other data (such as elevation value nor contouring lines) are shown. No data are used to help aid in navigation.

    After downloading the map and POIs of Cuba, I wanted to know if there is even the DEM files, or at least a DEM file that also includes that country.......

    I have iGO Nextgen Israel.

    If a giant meteor hit the Cuba, then the DEM is changed
    In all other cases nothing changes for centuries.

    Map and poi have nothing with DEM. They are independent. You must put desired DEM individually.

    I know perfectly how it works......

    From the World maps thread, both at post #5, than at post #8, post #10, and finally at post #12, in the spoiler World Wide, List of content, there are also several DEM files, but that of Cuba is not there.
    Also in this Thread, even at post # 64, which you indicate, there are several DEM files but there is no a Cuban DEM file.......

    At this point the cases are three:

    A) Does not exist a DEM file of Cuba
    B) It's somewhere else
    C) There is a DEM file that also includes Cuba

    Last year for the files regarding Costa Rica, had helped me Catymag, but now, for obvious reasons, I asked the question here.........

    Here is the DEM file for South America. Check if Cuba is part of it. I'm not sure, since Cuba is part of the caribbean, but I never saw a DEM file for this region.

    But the FBL and POIs files I downloaded them from TomTom maps of North America...... Are the maps part of the North and the Dem files are part of the South?

    Check if Cuba is part of it.
    And how do I do this?

    Until yesterday I had never even seen the maps of Cuba, mine was just a question, but by witty response, I suppose, and hope, there is an adequate response and not just humor.....

    In "map" folder, put only Cuba map, and keep only the South America DEM file in the "dem" folder.
    Turn on your device, and go to the map view. Zoom in the map. Do you see surface elevation, like mountains and valleys?

    Take a look at the screen shots I took:

    * Can you point me to the place where you downloaded the map of Cuba? Thanks.
