Yep. Hindsight is always 20/20. I say again 'they will not just bite the hands that fed them ....'. The backers of this lynch-mob may well feel the rope around their own necks before long.

Was that sledge hammer smashing isis person say something about the rock that sort of looked like the Devil was bad "for F sake they created there own Devil" and I would like to see the boarders with in an Area just peppered with ground penetrating bombs "reason maybe because if it isn't done nobody will know if anybody survives" I know that is harsh but you have the do gooders saying there are innocent Women and Children +some good Men. But for F sake those women are married to the men that have the Children that will grow up and have the will of the Farther that seems to rule the house,so the mentality of that household has not changed children grow up to replace their Fathers so really nothing has changed, so F the do gooders and clean out isis by any means necessary.
Was that to strong or you think I maybe Racist then think again because YOU maybe the Racist by thinking I am.

Think it's time some violent space person comes and starts doing Scorched Earth method then we will see who thinks they are worthy to live.

Iggy, it's not racist to want that those killers be stopped, permanently. The moral dilemma is HUGE though. ISIS and their ilk are the world's malignant tumour, so let's liken the current aerial solution to 'chemotherapy', more correctly 'cytotoxic', drugs used to threat cancer. In wiping out the cancer cells [ISIS militants] the drugs [bombs/shells/wotever] will kill other good fast-dividing cells too [the collateral damage, slaves, kids, other innocents]. Of course you want to kill ALL the cancer cells but as few as possible of the normal cells. So how's this like cancer treatment? Well, hair and mucosa aren't a big deal [the jihadi brides, a few cats and dogs and other pets they may have], but white blood cells and other immune defense cells are important [all the other innocents INCLUDING the ISIS kids, the kids make me feel particularly sad]. Drugs can be 'tailored' to do the least collateral damage, but bombs? So what are they trying to do over there? They target specific [and few] areas where they will kill the most militants and the least innocents but it's like trying to treat cancer with vitamins, or mow the lawn with scissors. So send in the troops and they can shoot the baddies and spare the goodies as much as possible. Or kill the whole lot regardless with blanket or dirty bombing. Either way a lot of good people will die, 'our goodies' in fighting on the ground, 'their goodies' with bombing.

Like I've said, i don't believe the world yet has the stomach to carpet bomb this cancerous tumour yet. But if we continue to see metastasis of it we will have the guts. When they are in our own backyards we will for sure, but by then it may be too late. Like secondary cancer cells are mostly immune to drugs and only die when the host dies too. Too late to bomb them when they have fully mingled with us.

So, if we won't kill the viper in it's nest with bombs it only leaves ground warfare. Sorry, call me cynical but unless they get boots on the ground with some real balls above 'em it won't work. The Iraqi soldiers have only shown time after time that they're military eunuchs and don't want to risk being up close and personal with ISIS. They'll cut and run at the first sign of trouble regardless of them outnumbering and outgunning the other side.

Yep, hindsight is 20/20. If only they'd left the Middle East alone to sort itself out decades ago. Sure the Jews wouldn't have got Israel, Saddam Hussein would still rule Iraq and there'd maybe be lots of other festering sores but we probably wouldn't have ISIS et al., wanting to kill every last one of us if we don't convert and wanting to turn the whole world into one big caliphate .... Then again, how can we know that any more than we can know now how future generations will view what's happening [or not happening] with jihadists today? I say just bomb the crap outta them and quickly. It's the lessor of the evils is all.

On a lighter note. Italian mamas and nonnas have always had a special place in my heart, growing up in the '50s i had lots of 'Eyetie' friends. I never went home hungry when i visited their homes i can tell you:
You too skinny Neil, you hungry? No? Doesn't matter, I get you something. There! Spaghetti! You eat!'. Same with my Greek friends, except it would be Souvlaki etc. I've recently discovered 'Nonna Paola' on facebook:
    Code:

She's great! I just love the way she talks in that fake bossy/pissed-off tone to her son in this:

Him: What are those things Mum, they look terrible.
    Her: That's olives you dickhead!
    Him: What?
Her: [pointing with the knife] OLIVES!

Lol! I love it, classic italian mum talk! Have a look at the part where he's trying to get her to taste Vegemite chocolate too. It's priceless.

So let's change the channel from jihadis to *wogs hey? Wotcha got for us Caty?
*It's not a derogatory term any more here, even the wogs call 'emselves wogs. [We're 'skippies' to them] Nonna Paola would say 'Ahhgghh! My grandson he wanna marry blonde skippy girl. We gotta find him nice wog sheila quick!'.

Yeah, she's an absolute crack-up. We still have Greek neighbours. When we moved here our two eldest sons were the same age approximately as their two sons. On the other side, was an Italian family with a son the same age as our second eldest. The boys were in and out of our 3 houses at will. I was happy for my kids to have the same 'Mediterranean' experience i had as a kid, albeit a bit later cos i literally grew up with my wog mates.

Australia is often portrayed to the rest of the world as being quite racist. It's not true generally. I've travelled a lot overseas and i can say it's in fact one of the least racist countries on earth. There are always bigoted idiots of course, no matter where you look in the world. We've got a few too. The thing about European migrants is the fast assimilation. They look like the locals, because they're the same basic genetics as them. The second generation from migrant parents are indistinguishable from the locals. Just listen to Nonna's son's voice. As ocker as they come. A mate of mine at school was mostly Chinese, and looked it too. But of course he talked like any Aussie and had the same sense of humour and laconic attitude. When we moved to high-school for Sub-junior [grade 9] a Junior year 10 kid picked on him because he accidentally bumped into him. The older kid said 'Watch it you chink ba*tard!' and pushed him against a brick wall. I was a big kid for my age when i was young [didn't grow much after 14 or 15], i grabbed the older kid by the collar and dragged him back saying 'That chink is probably more Aussie than you sport, his Great-great-grandfather came here for the goldrush last century'. The pr*ck took a swing at me and missed. Big mistake, two of our other mates, both Poms, grabbed his arms. The 4 of us picked him up and introduced him to a toilet bowl in the boys' dunnies which was right behind the brick wall. A couple of Prefects marched the 5 of us off to the headmaster's office. The Head seemed most concerned about the year 10 kid dripping all over his office floor, which was hard-waxed polished. He wasn't impressed by the use of the word 'chink' by the older kid, nor by our vigilante action in flushing his head. He inflicted the wise punishment of making all 5 of us clean the male toilets together each day for the first 15 minutes of lunch-hour for a week. We would have preferred to have got the cuts [it was early in 1960]. These days, neither action by a headmaster would be acceptable and the kids would run whining to their parents no matter what the punishment anyway. None of us were game to tell ours cos we'd have got into trouble at home too! How times have changed ..... These days ... bloody hell, don't let me start!

Fan of 'Apocalypse Now' are you? I have the redux version, if you want a copy let me know .

I said '.... don't let me start!', but seeing you haven't stopped me here we go:

I despair when i see that a couple of my grandkids are being raised to be 'scared of the world' because of their 'cottonwool/helicopter mum' [my nutty ex-daughter-in-law]. The kids won't even climb a tree at my joint [we're on acreage], because 'mum says we might fall out'. This is even though they see their younger cousins scampering around in the lower branches like possums. My 6yo grandson was nicknamed 'monkey' when he was 3 and my son and his wife and 3 kids were living here in the granny flat while they were building up their new business. They called him that because he could then [still does] climb a gum tree trunk like a monkey using his hands and bare feet. He was born premmie and is still small and light for his age but is very strong and wiry. He asked me if he could ride on my shoulders just the other week, i answered 'yeah, if you can get up there by yourself'. In an instant he ran up my back and was perched on my shoulders saying 'giddy up papa!' I froze in shock for a second, then exclaimed 'Wotthe!'. My daughter-in-law [sane one] looked at me pityingly and said 'Best you don't say things like that to him. He frightened the life out of his Dad the other day doing that'.

When i started school at age 4 in 'Prep' [1952], yeah that's right prep, wot's old is new again, it was at a smallish rural school and there were several largish mango trees in the grounds. At lunch time and before school they were always full of kids climbing in them, getting the best leaves to make 'propellers,' or just sitting there, or even playing 'tiggy' on the longer lower branches. No one ever stopped us doing it and i don't recall any kid ever falling out in the 3 and a bit years i went to that school. They were stringy old commons, but if we could beat the fruit bats [flying foxes] to the ripe mangos we were allowed to eat them too. Every one of the 3 other primary schools i went to after that one didn't stop kids climbing trees either. Imaging any of that being allowed today? NO WAY!

Iggy, remember when instead of rubberised surfaces all Aussie playgrounds used to have decomposed granite on the ground to stop the grass growing and keep maintenance to a minimum? You weren't game to fall off the swings or the monkey bars in those days, lol!:

Neil post regarding "cotton wool suit" cracks me up! Now for something more serious, I have voice files (VCT, TTS2, TTS3, TTSv) that are in .rgn format; how to I extract them?
