My GPS is connected and recognized by my computer. I can tell because WebUpdater hooks up. But I heard no "Windows device connection tone". Anyway I double-clicked " 'Install_gmapsupp.bat' to start the flash", but this pops up: "There is a problem with this GARMIN application. Would you like to send an error report to Garmin?" Also a C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe" black window pops up.

"PS: 'Struth Mate! The Overlanders was made before i was even born [barely a year though]. Can't you find some modern Oz movies to venerate? "

Here are some that come to mind, a little more modern anyway: Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Third Wave, Walkabout, Gallipoli, Mad Max, and the original On The Beach (1959) which wasn't an Australian film but it was partially filmed there and ends there.

Have you made the .bat file conform to the location of WebUpdater.exe or vice versa?

All good films. The beach kiss scene in 'On the Beach' fluttered a few maiden breasts here [so i'm told]. Peck and Gardner smouldered .....

How do you make them "conform", by putting the .bat faile into the WU folder?

The beach kiss scene didn't do much for me, tho I understand it was a big deal at the time. What did it for me was the music. Like so many great films the music made a huge contribution, that mournful rendition of "Waltzing Matilda". Haunting. I once listened to an audiobook reading of Neville Shute's book, unabridged, not on Librivox, tho Libri has amateur volunteer readers that are at least as good as pros, and sometimes much better (and, sure, some much worse), but by a pro, an Englishman, Simon Prebble. I thought that his voice was just perfect for that book. I borrowed it from the library on CD disks a number of years ago. Here it is for sale now on Amazon:

So listen up Yorlik [that's a backward Kilroy], You've fluffed up bigtime somehow. The message means one of two things. Most unlikely: region 10 [the datacard] can't be flashed because it's damaged, missing or unaccessible [you did put the damned thing into the 276c didn't you?]. More likely [almost certainly in fact]: the command in the bat file doesn't match where the WebUpdater.exe is located [i.e. they don't 'conform'].

No. Actually, sorry, let me be more specific ...NO!!! Ferfecksake, NO!!!!! ....... [Short pause while i wipe the spittle off my chin] ........

So, did you you move WU to a Garmin root folder in C drive [to conform with the bat file command], or did you change the text in the bat file [to conform with your original location of WU in the Program Files (x86) folder]. Should you now tell me that you (a) didn't do either; or (b) you did both; then i may have to go to hospital.

Ok then. It seems at least you're not a complete philistine then, only slightly technologically challenged. Thanks for the links. Fixed your youtube link and coded the amazon one [i'd hate to trouble you to read the rules]. But at least you're housebroken now ... Wait ... do i smell poo-poo and wee-wee? ...... Agggh! Ewww! It's on my foot!!!

PS: Do you know what the term 'walzing matilda' means? It doesn't mean dancing in 3/4 time with your sweetie, so google it if the underlying meaning isn't already known to you [there's also a secondary darker meaning too which is why the name 'Matilda' fell out of fashion here for a while ].

I shall respond to this manana. I am busy today, delivering a speech on advanced computer programming. Thank you for your patience.

PS. Yes I do know what waltzing matilda means in your primitive south pacific cannibal island patois, but pray tell what it is the "darker meaning". Also, when you fellows eat your "mates" down there don't you call it "long pig"?

Poor guy. When we get through with this they'll have him in a straight jacket in a lunatic assylum. He's already talking backwards and practically foaming at the mouth. Folding under pressure. Most unfortunate. On the other hand if he becomes mentally incapacitated my beer debt will become null and void. No beer allowed in Bedlam. Sorry.

Manana. Back to the Bat files manana.

Yeah, that's a great movie. You can see the haunting ending on YouTube too - or you can simply wait a few years and see it happen in real life.

"Now when I was a young man, I carried me pack, and I lived the free life of a rover
From the Murray's green basin to the dusty outback, well, I waltzed my Matilda all over.
Then in 1915, my country said son, It's time you stopped rambling, there's work to be done.
So they gave me a tin hat, and they gave me a gun, and they marched me away to the war.
    "

The meaning of the term is maybe clearer in the context of the song above [which also samples "Waltzing Matilda" at the end] than it is in A.B. "Banjo" Patterson's own lyrics set to the music of "The Craigslea March". The tune was recalled and played by ear, therefore slightly modified, on a zither by a daughter of the Macpherson family with whom he was staying with in early 1895 on their sheep station [ranch] near Winton in outback Queensland. The march was in turn based on a Scottish folk song "The Bonnie Wood O' Craigielea" which in turn was based on even earlier songs. So the music itself has a long heritage, and it may be even a slight stretch to describe the music over the opening credits of "On the Beach" as 'an instrumental version' of Waltzing Matilda. It could just as easily be a haunting rendition of any of those earlier Scottish airs, but wotever ... it still palpably Australian to all generations since and just before the start of the 20th century. This is "The Bonnie Wood O' Craigielea":

Watch the next vid in the playlist after that one, pretty similar eh what?
Gotta go now, they've realised i've slipped my straitjacket again.
