Hi,
Tomtom is my favourite, and camsam with the SCDB base in addition.

Garmin's map data covers many application areas, especially camping, off-road, etc., and has corresponding professional equipment and various supporting software. Just now the app has shifted its focus

Personally I use my android phone for local driving using Google Maps but for trail hiking I enjoy my Garmin Inreach with maps loaded on it.

With AlpineQuest layering various maps and even weather is great.

My first navigation was Mio from 2008. As time passed, I didn't know how to update the maps, so I found how to use iGO navigation via Mio Pocket mod. Since then, on all the devices I've used, I prefer the iGO (Primo) software. I use it in combination with Here maps that come out regularly and are easy to update. In the car (Kia), the navigation uses Tom Tom maps. For long-distance trips, I use Android iGO World or Car Navigation or both, locally always google maps - except in sparsely populated mountainous areas (when I go on vacation to such areas), google used to take me to such hellholes with bad goat roads that I no longer trust it.
