Dedicated GPS (nüvi 1300LM), though I do have NavFree on my phablet. The smartphone apps serve as excellent backups if something should happen to the dedicated device, but they aren't quite to the standard of a Garmin or Tom Tom. They come close, but they all seem to have small quirks that I find to be irritating enough to not want to use them as my primary GPS device. However, in a pinch they will get me home if I'm lost.

I'm stuck to Garmin in phone too, but I cant update firmware or I loose it. iGO is a good alternative.
Outdoor handheld is not replaceable at the moment IMHO.

I don't use any GPS device normally when in the city "being an ex field serviceman" I sort of know where I am and mainly use a street directory "paper one" I have a smartphone with Gmaps but doesn't tell how to get there and I haven't loaded Navicon either, I have the Missuses TT but again only take it Bush "it is also temperamental and won't start at times" but when I go Bush I take all devices TT, 2x Garman Etrax, PDA with OziExplorer and Topo's, Geological, Mining Tenement Maps installed and the Lappy with OziExplorer and extra HDD for extra storage of GPS track saving and photos if the Camera ends up full and now I have an extra device nick name the "Troopy Cam" it's a motorcycle helmet Cam and records in full HD if needed but is set for 720p @ 25fps and records 13hrs on a 32GB micro SD card. I have recorded 100GB of movie on my last trip so will take me some time to sort out all the Tracks, Waypoints, Photos and now movies to be able to post SOME of it in my post on Noeman off topic.
So as you can see I use lots of Electronic Gadgets "but if all fails there is a paper map in the bag" being a very handy person "in Electronics, Electrical, even vehicle maintenance a friend had battery probs "" Iggs need help" damn my CB is playing up can't hear you lot "Iggs need help" my caravan Fridge is going all funny "Iggs need help" I am glad that when I was a younger Iggs that I decided to be able to add these trades to resume and be able to help friends in need.
Well that was a good ramble and I hope am able Help others here when needed.
