Question Which DVD Burner type you are using - Recommendation?

    Hey guys,
Now I'm using TSST corp. SH-224DB burner. So far there is no any particular issues, but the slowest burning speed is 4x. Recommended burning speed on most of the navigation DVDs is 1x or slowest possible. 4x is ok but is not that good for burning DVDs for car navigation. Can anyone share their experience for model type with 1x burning speed that is still on the market.

Slowest burning speed is not always the best. It's the speed best for a media. For example, if you try to burn 1X on some 16X media, it could be worst than burning it at say 8X. The key is to check for errors after the burned.

I'm using Verbatim DVD + or - with max speed 16x. Always i'm using 4x burning speed because that one is slowest one on my burner.

To burn maps for my Bmw e60 CCC navi I've tried diferent speeds of burning an DVD with diferent DVD types. But mostly depends on the burner that you have. Not every burner can do DVD with maps. I've tried with my PC burner Philips SPD6005T and don't work but on my asus laptop works just fine at any speed with any DVD disk.

I use ImgBurn. It lists the speeds supported by the particular blank DVD in the drive. From there I selected the lowest, usually 4x.
