Using Gmaptool to merge multiple maps into one is very effective!
Now I can use 5 maps on my 205W, without external SD card!
I had the same issue when trying to install multiple maps on the same gps partition.
I tried to select different maps from mapsource menu and the selecting whole map blocks and after changing the map from product menu,the selection remains selected.
I sent the maps to the gps and i found that the maps are compiled as one file.
I.E:
slovakia + hungary = 53,1MB (as one file)
individual files :
slovakia = 22,8 MB
hungary = 30,3 MB
Output from MapSource is always one file (gmapsupp.img)Quote:

That is the way to combine different MapSource products (or parts) in one map for device.
Where is problem?
how to put all on SD card ?
merge maps with gmaptool - create a Garmin folder and copy the gmapsupp.img inside
Yahoo!! nuvi 1xx0 series, can create a folder "Map" in the SD card, then dump in ANYNAME.img and is done, support all maps! so that means can copy all kind of .img maps into SD card!! thanks to cenpac
Nice guide. Though I didn't get it to work, exactly like that. I have a Garmin Nuvi 1390.
In this GPS device, the maps that get shipped with the device is stored under .System (hidden)
Under the folder Garmin, there is a file named GarminDevice.xml.
When I finaly read the file, I could see that the gmapsupp.img had the location "Map". I made the folder Map, and copied my .img file and unl file there. Then it worked.
Okay, so I have 2 maps installed on my Edge 705 SD card:
1. gmapsupp.img + gmapsupp.unl
2. gmapsup2.img + gmapsup2.unl
But what about the SW.UNL file - there is one for my the originally installed map on the SD Card. Do I need one for the second map?
SW.UNL is not for unlocking maps, it is for unlocking software and it is always only one one
