Thread: Cross Region for Nuvi 68 US to 68 SG/MY

To Be more precise , I think the SG/MY version is Nuvi 67 , but HW should be the same as Nuvi 68 US .

If the PCB P/Ns of the devices match then the hardware is 'the same' but you may have other problems with a conversion, it's not guaranteed that it'll happen smoothly just because of matching PCB P/N and flashing US/EU devices to an Asian fw can be problematic because of incompatible voice/text/etc. files which then have to be replaced with correct ones.

Conversely, if the PCB P/N of the two devices and their respective firmwares are different then a conversion is not possible.

Post #7 tells how to find the PCB P/N in firmware and to see it on the device you open hidden menu behind the battery symbol (hold symbol for 5-6 seconds to reach the menu) then press lower right corner/"Back" or "Next" repeatedly until you see a page headed "Version Information nuvi ...........". The PCB is shown in the top line.

Saw you mentioning about the Voice , Text , etc . When we flashed the firmware , those files doesn't come with the firmware on those regions ?
I wanna flash to APAC version as I would like to have the ASEAN Language better support than the US version.

If you're only wanting to add support a local Asian voice, you might be better off just modifying the US/EU firmware to support the local TTS/non-TTS *vpn file/s. See this post how to do it: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] (post #63). If the voice you want to use is supported in RGNVoiceEditor that's a far better option to a risky firmware cross-flashing.

Just one more question , i tried to use different voice file for my nuvi 68 , but some of them are showing as "Incompatiable Audio" on nuvi .
Even I tried to download new voice (TTS)with garmin Express , it shows correctly in the nuvi unit but no voices coming out . I have to go back to my old Non-TTS voice now .

Is there any ways to allow me to use any VPM file and work on nuvi 68 ? What is the change i need to do ? I can reflash anytime .

That's not what i suggested you do. Read Post #5 again and the other linked [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] carefully. You need to modify the current US/EU firmware to take a different TTS voice or you will get "Incompatiable Audio" message if that voice file is not supported in the current firmware. The only Thai voice presently supported is the non-TTS Thai__ (006-D0864-00) which is what i guess you've been using. Assuming you want a Thai TTS voice, what you need to do is change an unused voice such as Eesti (Estonian) to Narisa TTS and then flash the modified RGN using Updater.exe or as BIN files in an SD flash kit:
