excellent job. I only find the light blue background too bright and modified your 6field dashboard a little bit by changing the background to transparent grey.
Unfortunately the transparent grey png's are much bigger than the original files and GIR-Editor does not manage to compress the files to keep the original file size.
Nonetheless the dashboard works on my 3590 with only the landscape background exchanged but not with the portrait image additionally changed.
I enclose both background files in case someone wants to finish the job. TIA

Hey guys: I just lurk here from time to time, but thought I would say "hi". I'm Boyd, the author of the dashboard tutorial. Glad to see that you're making good use of it! To bad Garmin removed the feature from the new models.
For myself, mostly I use a Dezl 760 as a moving map with no routing and use special maps I make myself. I have a dashboard that covers up the green (or blue) bar at the top of the screen. This gives me the rest of the screen for only the map. As you can see, the dezl has a few data field options not available on the Nuvi.

Welcome to GPSpower and thank you for this great tutorial
I second Loly's welcome and thanks Boyd. As an itinerant occasional fellow lurker of other forums i'm very familiar with you from a distance and a closet admirer. The world's a small place in some ways as i had only just read your interesting 'aside' exchange with Rick James on GpsP about the 'top-screen coverup' dashboard you've made. [Seeing that's in a thread bitching about 2G support going down the gurgler in US for connected 1690, it's nice to see others get smoothly sidetracked into OT as well]. Any chance your dezl760 custom dashboard can be adapted for 2xx7 or even 3xx7? I noted your comment [the other place] 'The one I use the most covers up the green bar at the top of the screen so I can just use the Nuvi as a "moving map" .....'.
100% agree with your comment there about using CX on 3590 too btw. Pedestrian Mode on a power-hungry 5" PND is about as handy as a hip pocket in your undies. [opps ... OT sorry!]
G'day, I like it! More of the map visible.
Here's my attempt.
