For my understanding of the list in post #1: am I correct that the JCV capable units on the list can only do so when using NTU maps in combination with the corresponding NTU suitable JCV file and that vice versa NT maps will work on them, but in combination the corresponding NT suitable JCV file won't work?
What about nüvi 2445(LM/LT/LMT)?
My 2445LM is fully compatible with Unicode.
Yes. JCV files and Map Version are interdependent, even with NT & NTU of same version.Quote:

2455 is in the list, therefore any of same series [24x5] is NTU capable. See Post #5 by catymag:Quote:

Just to be clear to save users asking similar questions: The Series determines whether units are NTU capable. Taking the US/EU 24x5 models as an example, they are ALL NTU capable. The 3rd number only differentiates between some added or lacking features [such as BT, ASR etc or in some series, the map regions loaded as OEM], and doesn't ever alter its map capabilities.Quote:
.... Listed devices have officially support for NTU maps, this is incontrovertible evidence naturally, same HWID devices should have too, so if 3450 is listed ,3490 will have too.
I may not have phrased my question clear enough, or I may not understand your answer properly. What I like to know is if an NT map with matching NT type JCV file is loaded into an NTU capable unit, will the JCV functionality work?Quote:

Broadly speaking, yes. But some jcv files are tailored for certain units e.g. the 4x/5x series jcv are specific as you probably know and i don't think there is any EU NT jcv files for them, only NTU.
There is not going to be a problem since NTU devices support both latin characters and others (cyrillic, greek, etc)
NT supports only latin characters.
JCV will function if it is loaded together with its matching map file.
NTU capable devices like 3790 were reading NT maps and their additional files before the first NTU map was released so you shouldn't have any problems there. The thing is to find the right NT JCV file for your unit or you may have poor display results and i believe that's what Neil is trying to point out if i understand correctly.
Additionally Neil just wants to say there is no NT JCV for certain unit series.(40/50) So if you load a NT map ,you wont find a working JCV for them.
