Sorry mate, I was only parroting what I knew about the history of the genesis and unintended misuse of VenID. The actual mechanics of progression will be better explained by some one like Cnfhbr or his caliber.
That's right.
It's not the case. This is an unlock Subregion ID (SID) for maps. It works in conjunction with the RID. When creating a map, it allows you to specify smaller sections of the product that may be unlocked in MapSource or BaseCamp rather than unlocking the whole region (ie to divide the region into smaller subregions). In this case, the unlock code will unlock only the maps that belong to that region and subregion pair.
Thanks for the info. I try to think of reasons why you should use more than one unlock codes on a single map. I can only think of one, allowing a small "subregion" to be used as a demo by providing a separate unlock code. Are there other reasons?

Let's forget for a minute about the existence of any keygens and unlockers.
If you bought a map of Paris only (having decided to save money) from the full map of Europe, then you'll not be able to unlock the full map or even a map of France with your key if these maps will fall into your hands for free.
In the instant case:
FID/PID -> Europe ALL
RID -> France
SID -> Paris
It has been a long time since I see only city (or state for that matter) maps. At least the ones for the U.S. Garmin doesn't release them too often, no? I've been playing with maps created by OSM data, is it possible to create "lockable" maps without using MPC?

My explanation above is just an example of how a map author can dispose of his product using SID.
You can lock the maps using cGPSmapper too. But cGPSmapper, like MPC, locks the map in the process of its creation (ie you cannot lock any non-locked .img if the GPSMapEdit does not open it properly).
Hi - I'm using [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to generate my OSM/OFM maps for my Garmin Edge 1030. Works just fine if I use one map only, but second maps never shows up. I used GMapTool to look into my two img files - they have the same PID (7), MapId (typically 48860001 and on) and different FIDs (4 digits). Ok - I changed MapIds ... but it didn't help. Not sure if/how I can change FID and if it helps.
Would anyone point me to a concise guide how to use multiple OSM maps at the same time on Garmin Edge? Thanks!
