hahahahaha i didnt run away, ive been so busy at work i didnt get any free time until now, im going to read through all the posts now and see if it has any chance to work again.
I have tried everything i wish to upload a small video clip so you can see what it does, i am losing my hope that this unit will ever work again.
First please upload update.log produced after trying my suggestion.

This should be retitled "How to properly format and restore your Garmin to factory working state." If I had seen this, I would have been able to perform this on my GPS from the start. When it says to install the original firmware, I was thinking that I needed to somehow recover the original firmware on my GPS before I could continue. Now that I have a better understanding of the above, it all seems to fall into place now.

have a nuvi 1370t that I also paid for lifetime maps. now it is a brick with GARMIN logo only when powered on. any chance these firmware reinstalls can be done from Mac OS X system?
No sorry you need Windows to run Kunix's cure and Updater.exe. You can try to use virtual Windows on Mac.Quote:
