    Which is what this thread is about, US 2xx, check the first post the OP has a US 200W. EU, AU etc fw is the same as US as i'm sure you know. If some or all Asian fw is not included that's maybe irrelevant in here. Thanks for your clarification anyway, i'm sure it will be helpful to Asian users.

    I did check the first post from OP.
    It does not specify the OP is using a U.S. 200W HWID or firmware.
    But the OP is using a U.S. map, so it does indicate that it is most likely being used with a U.S. HWID firmware device.
    Therefore (especially as being Tutorial thread), it is highly relevant to mention details such as only the recent U.S. HWID firmwares support gmapsup1.img for these 2xx devices (and some other legacy U.S. nuvi devices).

    I would say just use the web updater and you can't go wrong.

    Just an FYI -

    I just updated a very old (certainly nor recent) , US Nuvi 200 (not a 200W) to the latest firmware 5.10 for a friend and it now works perfectly with 2 maps on SD.

    sd:\garmin\gmapsupp.img
    sd:\garmin\gmapsup1.img

    @WknThDog
    Perhaps i've inadvertently offended you, that wasn't my intention and if that's so i apologise. I was in fact thanking you sincerely (not facetiously) for clarifying that gmapsup1 is not universal for units named 2xx. To clarify what was meant in my somewhat sloppy initial answer quoted above: My belief is that he does have a US device, although that's not totally clear in his first post, just strongly implied as you point out. Strephon Alkhalikoi makes the point somewhere that he has the same unit as the OP, running (US) v4.00 fw, and reading the rest of the thread makes it clear that the OP has a unit with only 1 Gib internal memory. This is why i firmly believe that it's an early US device, please correct me if i'm wrong in thinking that all Asian hwid 2xx's have a 2 Gib memory. And yes gmapsup1 applies to others like 7xx. Perhaps the thread should be renamed to make it clear it's referring to US hwid units only, and not just 2xx but also other similar legacy units.

    @Neil,

    I was not offended (all is well) and just wanted to clarify further details that gmapsup1.img is not supported if using Asian firmwares on 2xx devices.
    Although the U.S. 200W can have 1 or 2 GB, I'm unaware if all (or any) Asian HWID 2xx's have a 2 GB memory or not.
    My 1 GB nüvi 200W U.S. HWID 737 is now using v4.10 that supports the gmapsup1.img.

    By using TurboCCC's RGN_Tool, I enjoy some added features (not available w/the U.S. firmwares) buy using Asian firmwares on my a U.S. nüvi 255W w/SingMal v3.10 firmware and a U.S. 775W w/TWN v3.30.
    Wishing that Garmin would also update these Asian firmwares with support for using gmapsup1.img as well.

    Some Nuvi 200 Russian have 256Mb on board!
    In any case even 2Gb on board is not enough for Europe or North America map today. But 4Gb on SD had not allowed to combine two this maps for example. I think Garmin was obliged to meet the users...
    Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

    OUCH! Makes it next to useless really without an sd. And here's us bitching about 'tiny' 1 GiB internal.

    ...... I think Garmin was obliged to meet the users...
    You mean by enabling 2nd sd map gmapsup1, i suppose. Not really wondering why they didn't just enable a Map folder for legacy models, or at least also enable a 3rd and even 4th map for sd\Garmin. From a layman's view i wouldn't have thought the fw change would be much different or difficult, dunno though. I wouldn't be alone in cynically thinking that they didn't want to make it too easy for people to want to hold on to their old units, i'd reckon. Gotta leave the punters with some reason to want to buy upgraded hw ... business is business. Sort of surprising that they even gave us gmapsup1 in a way, must have been a lot of pressure from somewhere i think, or maybe they did just feel a spontaneous obligation to do so ..... [laugh, snort, chortle, choke]... [It's ok, i'm over that mental lapse, now]... Nah! There must have been pressure.

    I had a reply in a private message but am unable to thank the person until I have posted 15 messages.

    To help anyone else who has the same problem I copy below the solution for Nuvi 255W

    ZB

    Your nuvi recognize from SD from folder Garmin only two maps, one with name gmapsupp.img and other with gmapsup1.img

    In your nuvi internal memory nuvi recognice maps in folder Garmin with this name: gmapprom.img, gmapprom1.img and gmapsupp.img.

    So you can use 5 maps for different country, on nuvi memory in folder Garmin 3 and on SD in folder Garmin 2 with name gmapsupp.img and gmapsup1.img

    A small correction.
    You can use 5 different maps (different MapIDs), even if they cover the same area-region-country.
    Maps that are covering the same area, should be checked seperately on the map list, unless they are transparent layers with no routing info.
