Mapsource is not updated for new CNs, try with Basecamp.

Catymag, you are right, in Basecamp and on an Etrex 30 CN Europe NTU 2015.4 did find that street.

On a Nuvi 1255 I can find and select that street, I can select the house number 3 (which exists in Basecamp) and when I hit the "Done" key the search result shows up for half a second and the pic snaps back to "Enter House Number". On a Nuvi 1450 it finds this street, then I enter number 3 and the Nuvi 1450 says "not found". Both Nuvis with firmware 6.20

Garmin also says that units such as 260/W, 370, 680 and 780 are compatible with NTU when clearly they are not. That list supplied in the 'Compatible Devices' tab of EUU page is a load of rubbish. Whoever cobbled it together at Garmin US was either seriously hungover or didn't care about accuracy. I wonder if Garmin would give a refund if i bought an EU unicode for my 260W only to find myself unable to properly search by address when on the ground? My guess is no, because they don't list it as the recommended map for a North American 260W in the 'Maps' tab for 'Europe'/'On the Road'. Only the NTs are listed:

The arguments about NTU compatibility/non-compatibility/partial-compatibility seem to never end and it appears that its mostly down to personal anecdotal experience in particular areas, and in some cases how you're searching, language, text etc. In nuvi series for example, it's obvious some have at least partial compatibility [nuvi 2x5/W, 465, 500, 7x5 for instance], there's almost compatibility in 1xxx, but only 2/3xxx have full compatibility. In my opinion anyway, 2x0/W, 3xx, 6xx and 7x0 for instance are near useless with NTU.

Units with complete compatibility not only have unicode string references in their firmware, but also specifically have 'UnicodeMaps' in their GarminDevice.xml. Less compatible units have it in firmware but not in the xml. Non-compatible units have it in neither. My take on this is that if this reference is not in the GarminDevice.xml then it's not fully unicode compatible:

If that's not in the XML but it has 'UnicodeString' in the firmware then there's probably some compatibility. If it has neither then don't bother even trying.

I did not notice regularities in bug for NT and NTU!!! Each version of NTU map have owns bugs on non-NTU devices. One of version do not search for some town in search for cities . But the next is searching for its - OK, but I had not searched some POI what was always searchable. I had found a several bugs each time, and if I earlier thought what it is bug for specific version of both maps as NT and NTU but now I do not check this bug on other version because every time I could not reproduce it when I tried this bug on Nuvi 660 with NT version.

P.S. Unicode do not even perfect work on compatible units sometime. Problem with localization of names is usual fee for multilanguage support.
Garmin, how much is 30 pieces of silver for Judas today? Were they worthy for crucifix of GPSPower?

I just purchased a Nuvi 2598 thru Costco. I want to install img of Europe on Micro/SD card. Will the img file have to be NT or NTU?
My model number is not listed in your compatibility list.

NTU for 2598 but if you cannot unlock it, try NT.

I downloaded both NT and NTU img files for Europe. The 2598 will not read either of the maps, it states that the maps are locked or corrupt. I did try both img files in my old 780 and both maps were readable. Not sure how accurate the NTU is in the 780(as per prior threads), but it shows that both are unlocked except they do not work in the 2598.
Does anyone have or know of a solution to this problem?

    @imibacsi
On main screen ['Where To'/'View Map'], hold battery symbol for several seconds to enter hidden menu. Press 'Next'/lower RH corner of screen several times to find screen 'Version Information', press Start Test > More, then look at number beside 'Boot BLK' in top row. You will have B2077-00, not B1582-00. Or look at the GarminDevice.xml file in your 2598's Garmin folder. Open it and look for <PartNumber>006-Bxxxx-00</PartNumber> near the start of the file. Yours will show 2077.

It unlocks NT (not NTU) IMGs in 2014 devices, but not working with all new devices 2xx9 and probably in most of newer devices firmware,
    If you have 2xx7 (8) (PartNumber> 006-B1582-00), works
    If you have 2xx7 (8) (PartNumber> 006-B2077-00), doesn't work
    .
As said by catymag, nothing to do to help with unlocking presently, sorry. For your NA unit to use EU mapping you must either purchase the map from Garmin or you can use free mapping such as [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], also latest is available here:

I have a Nuvi 3760 and have paid for lifetime updates for whole of Europe maps. Normally I copy the NTU Europe file from the Nuvi and then use this map in my Garmin Montana GPSr when going on holiday to find my way on foot round European cities.

Up to version CN Europe NTU 2015.30 unlocked and transferred fine to my Montana GPSr using Gimtools.

However with the latest CN Europe NTU 2015.40, the .img file would not transfer over to the Montana. It eventually worked using GarminUnlocker Alternativev8.0.1. Are Garmin putting more protection on these maps now ?
