catymag i read about installing multiple maps and units and directories, but one thing i couldnt understand. I hope you could clarify this ;
- I m using Garmin 3790T model device. And i have a 8GB memory card that i would like to install several mapsets in it. Now in your posts, the new devices such as 3790 accepts anyname.img maps on SD card under MAP folder. But my question is what about 3d maps and JCV files?
- For example if i want to have the whole Europe mapset with 3D maps and JCV etc and whole North America mapset with its 3d maps and JCV and also middle east and north africa with the 3d maps and JCV files, how do i place the files?
- Do i simply place everything unders MAPS folder under SD? or do i have to rename the 3d and JCV files and put it in another location? Are there any restrictions on 3d map files and JCV files that we can have on the SD card?
I would appreciate your assistance, thanks.

Answered a related question by you [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]. Read this: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Neil, thanks i already read those parts in the Forum, but i missed the part that you could actually copy 3dmap files along with your maps into the Maps folder under the SD card. My question was also whether you could have as many 3d maps as you wish, but i assume you can not. I m just assuming again that you can only have 2 files of 3dmap files on sd card and 2 files of 3dmap files on the internal memory.
I had already done garmin mapsets copying merging(gmaptool) through these forums for a long time, but every 1 or 2yrs i do it once and meanwhile i forget it or the procedures completely change or differ to an extent. So its like re-learning everything. This time i prepared a guide for myself. Simple and all information is in one place instead of in many different places (sounds like an airbus manual to me :))
In Map folder, you can name your 3dmap files as anyname_3D.img and have as many as you have map images to match them.
On the Garmin 34xx units is a SID directory.
Mine is currently empty :-(

So for City Navigator Australia & New Zealand NT 2013.20 - NAVTEQ the traffic trends file ("trafficTrendsv2" D323200.db) goes into SID folder or does it still go into the SQLite folder?Quote:
Files are stored in 34xx .System/ SID and are traffic trends, instaSearch , instaAdresses and POIs and FastRouting related
Also - what are the instaSearch , instaAdresses and POIs and FastRouting files (I know what they do but not the files to look for).
In 34xx in SID folder files have extension .SID
(here CNE NTU files)

in SQLite folder there are files with extension .db

and naturally in your 34xx GarminDevice.xml and in starting post
@ Catmag
Helps now to see SID folder outline. :-)
xml gives good info. Must remember to check it more often. See now I am missing Insta Search, Address Search, Fast Routing and Traffic Trends V3 for 34xx (no SID files). Am assuming these are downloaded to unit when updating maps through Garmin.
This suggests the files posted in [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] post #3 are from 37xx using Navteq map.
34xx files still missing (SID folder) apart from ASR2 files posted by mrt737
hi experts,
I am currently owning a Garmin 3790, whilst updating the map, I found that I need to put 2 files in the ASR folder which is supposed to be under .System folder (hidden). When I do a "Show all hidden folders", I did not see the .System folder in my Garmin 3790. What should I do next?
Is normal 3790 or 34xx ?
If it is 34xx read:
