Thanks added in starting post :)Quote:

To tell the truth G, i only did it directly with the 2GiB NA [US & CA] 1450 because i wanted to see how it would work with the overflow simply because I knew everything would no longer fit onboard [it had everything on board with 2012.20 map originally]. I usually use a 'fake nuvi' flash disc/sd/virtual disk [a 'nuvi stunt-double' as i like to call them] and naturally always use one big enough to take the lot anyway. In the case of the NA1450LM, a 4GiB fake is plenty big enough for everything now np, but i need an 8GiB stunt double for the NA 3597LM as as 'all up' it's over 5GiB data.
It's best not to do it directly online as you said, and so simple to avoid the inherent problems of that anyway. I won't use GE any more because it's flaky even with the real nuvi anyway, and dangerously unstable with a stunt double. MI/MU/WU only for me and they work fine with a 'fake'.

New 2.20 version of SRD for Russian ASR.
It is not fresh but official page offer old 2.10 version still. However version 2.20 is preloaded in newest Nuvi series...
It is for device with support of ASR2 - Nuvi (Zumo) from series 2012 and above!!!

Is this ASR for CN Navicom or Navteq?
Being an RU Language specific SRD file, does it matter which map it's used with?
Yes. There is also embedded data in the mapping too if I am not mistaken. Otherwise this ASR could be used in all countries (mappings) using the Cyrillic alphabet (developed in the Bulgarian Empire 9th century by "the Salonica brothers" :) ). Which unfortunately is not possible.
It is only SRD files for total voice interface in device on Russian. You do not need in map at all but voice control would be present until you do not want to find objects to corresponding with certain maps. For last searching operation you need voice embedded labels in map file with voice phonemes for this label in ASR and SRX files. So it is fully compatible with any Garmin maps in device but only if these maps have ASR data.Quote:

SRD files is only for conversion our voice to compatible format with device software like surdo (sign language) or native language subtitles into video or karaoke. I do not know about inverse task for converting software data to speech because this date is language independent and may be written to main SW.
Added compatible info in initial post: It is for device with support of ASR2 - Nuvi (Zumo) from series 2012 and above!!!
That's confirmed with my anecdotal experience using Sensis or Navteq AU maps which are ASR capable. For sure en_AU.srd works with either map with appropriate *.asr/*.srx files along with AU TTS voice file in 2012 ASR'2' device, as does English_Australian.srd for 2011 ASR device. Hence my question 'does it matter which map it's used with?', meaning Navicom or Navteq RU maps. [It's rhetorical btw, 'cos it shouldn't ;)].
