D3048180A.JCV is not meant for full-screen display, it's images have a picture size of 212x234 pixels and it's meant for split-screen display in 2/3xxx devices. 1xxx normally uses 480x270 jcv images and can only display in full so it horizontally stretches the split-screen image signage to fit, also resulting in loss of the view's resolution as seen in your sample images. The non-U map with D2504180A.JCV or D3084150A.JCV is the correct combination to use but the larger file's nearly 664MiB in size. D3048180A split is only ~379MiB but regardless possibly has slightly more views than D2504180A full and many, many more views than D3084150A full at ~312MiB.
Additionally, in spite of some claims to the contrary, imo 1xxx is not completely compatible with Unicode maps. However it certainly has less issues in actual use than earlier nuvi series 2xx and 7xx for example. If you wish to save some space on the unit or microSD and don't mind the 'stretched and fuzzy' look of the 212x234 JCV you will probably not have many problems in actual use with the EUU map depending on language usage, locations used and searches made.
The thing is I had a small hope that may be 212x234 JCV will be displayed as is without stretching, and thus not covering navigation UI completely. I know know sounds stupid. I should probably just buy the damn 3490 nuvi.
Interestingly notice how on obviously stretched images from D3048180A.JCV the background actually has correct proportions same as in D2504180A.JCV
It's only possible to get split screen jcv in a US/EU 1xxx if you convert it to Asian. Highly risky, with chance of bricking it. Also you may be unhappy with other things, chance of TTS problems for example. I don't recommend it personally.Quote:

Yup, be much easier if it's important to you to have split-screen jcv display. Lots of other advantages too in 3490 over a 1300 even with splash of 1340-50: ASR, portrait/landscape display, pinch to zoom, DEM, 3D buildings, for instance and so on plus easy mod for MP3 & video players.Quote:

Unfortunately, the files are no longer available to download. I know it is an old thread, but does anyone know where I can get the files for this procedure?
Garmin Nuvi 1200
B0971 Chipset
Software V. 6.20
City Navigator North America 2015.30
Thank you

Thanks for the reply. I am having a lot of trouble with this process. I am trying to do the method where you enter diagnostic mode first then connect the cable. My windows xp computer recognizes the device Ok, but when I try to start updater it gives an error that no update files could be found. I don't know what I am doing wrong? Why do you like complicated stuffs?Quote:
Just extract the contents of this zip in the root of SD card and restart the gps.
Oh, that would be a lot easier. I was just trying to follow the directions in the original post. Do you mean the root of the removable SD card, or the internal storage?
Thanks for the help.
I got it working using your tips. Thanks catymag.
Update your firmware via webupdater now, acleite's files load sw 6.10, the latest is 6.20.Quote:
