How do I know my Nuvi 1350 whether its MTK and Non-MTK GPS chips by checking the serial number label which on the bottom of Nuvi unit ?
The nuvi 1300 does not have JCV directory,
You will need to make a new directory.
.System\JCV
You can also place the files in SD memory card, if the
files are to large to fit.
Make a directory in the SD card, \garmin\JCV
Use the larger junction view file 752MB
D3060030A.JCV
Here is the direct link to the download file on the Garmin website:

@albert_chong
Go to para 4 in Post #1 for info how to enter Diagnostic Mode to view chipset type.
Hi Neil,
What I mean is, How do I know whether Nuvi 1350 is MTK or Non-MTK GPS chipset by checking the "Serial number" which on the Nuvi set bottom label ?
I know when enter Diagnostic mode, we can know the HWID, then we can know whether it is MTK or Non MTK.
I am going to buy Used Nuvi 1350 from ebay, I asked the ebay seller, he just give me the Serial number which on the Nuvi set bottom label,
so base on the Serial number, can we know whether it is MTK or Non-MTK,
I need Non-MTK Nuvi 1350.
Thanks
@albert-chong
No way i know of from just the S/No. Maybe contact Garmin for info? Pffft .. fat chance.. Other than asking the ebay seller to check the diagnostic menu for you which you may have already tried, i don't know. Maybe somebody else can help?
Edit: There is a way to find the UID from the S/No and vice versa. Go here:
Code:Please Login or Register to see the links
Or in the GarminDevice.xml file it is also writen the HWID of the unit. The file is inside in folder x:/Garmin
Of course, i forgot about the .xml file. But then the guy doesn't have access to the device. I suggested posting the S/no in case someone here has 13xx with a very close s/no to his. For instance, my US 1300 s/no is 22492xxxx with chipset B0972, but maybe the model id has more to do with hwid....
@albert_chong
It might be easier to get the seller to browse his unit than manually entering the diag menu? Tell him to look for the info (after <Model>) <Part Number>006-Bxxxx-yy</Part Number>. That's the HWID 'xxxx'. Surely he can do that. Don't forget to thank ddabcd277 for this, not me.

Hi, I have a garmin nuvi 1350 with firmware 5.50. I tried to change the firmware to SgMy 2.90 version with Boot 5.40 of US firmware, it says:
"There is a problem with hardware of this unit, GPS will be disabled. Take tit to a hardware engineer of the nuvi2xx to fix"
When i tried to simulate routing, it just shuts off.
@hellleh
Where do you download FW 5.50 for nuvi 1350?
Can you upload your original gupdate.gcd FW 5.50?
For your problem:
Dou you remove gupdate.gcd from your nuvi before flashing?
Rty clear nonvol or make hard reset,or reflash again.
@lolypop 000
The unit comes preloaded with the 5.50 software version. I was also wondering if I could get the gupdate.gcd FW 5.50.
Tried to make it to 5.40 and follow the steps here, but it just could not work.
What is "Rty clear nonvol or make hard reset,or reflash again." ?
