Why did you download the map on a SD card and didn't connect your 3490. As soon as there wan no more available space on 3490, it would ask you to insert an empty microSD card to finish installation.

On your SDcard, inside GARMIN folder, copy GarminDevice.xml file from your Device:/Garmin/ folder.
Insert the SD card in a card-reader and try to update the map with GarminMapUpdater.
I hope that the program will "see" your card as your "3490" and download the map and all the additional files that are specific for your 3490.

My only thought is that, the map is maybe lock with your SDcard id number, and if the card is less than 4 Gb, maybe you get an error response.

When You buy Maps Online there are no extra features or premium content.

Please note, these full-version maps DO NOT contain premium content such as Junction View or 3-D buildings and terrain. These features only are available on the preloaded maps within your device or through a specific update for the mapping region of your device.

I really can believe it that Garmin can do such a thing.
For example, I buy a 3590 at a very high price in Europe with CNEUNTU preloaded.
I move to the States or Australia and all I can buy for such expensive and powerful device is just the image file.....nice, veeery nice.

Or according to Garmin, I must buy a new 3590 at top dollar, this time from the States or Australia!!!!!

    Ps
I have bought a 3760 two years ago, with no preloaded maps, at a cheaper price and I transformed it to 3490.
Now with this, no matter what I pay to Garmin, I will never LEGALLY obtain the full version of the CN maps.
I'm glad to be around with all of you guys!!!!

    @HotKarl
    1. You are probably not slow, maybe just a bit mesmerized from 2hrs of .... well, you know.
    2. Wot! Can you get jcv on it now, you ask?? Check the name of that thread: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. OK, maybe you are a little slow. BTW, Dvazg only posted it for lolypop000 who worked it out. Loly gets the credit (that's 2 strikes, Yank!).
    3. You can get the JCV file from the map thread. e.g. if you have CNNT NA 2013.30 Lower 49, go here: [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Take the full screen jcv D3060080A.JCV. Post #1 of this thread tells you how to add it. Hint: Your 1300 uses either hidden .system folder or sd.
    3. Go buy some Visine or Polytears or something.
    4. Do you have a sister, HotKarlene? (Best you don't answer that here or we'll go to trash, but it'll be 3 strikes if you don't have one).
PS: Welcome to Noeman, nice first post. Now get your sorry a** over to [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and post a new thread to introduce yourself properly. That'll make up for not having a hot sister.

I'm having trouble with I believe to be instasearch. I have 2 3750's flashed with 34xx and features enabled. One of them had a free map update available, so I used it. I unlocked it, and sent it to the other one. For some reason instant search on the first device isn't working. I use the same method of typing in a city and typing a specific destination but it doesn't pull up anything. On the second device it works fine. I have tried clearing non-vol. The SID folder is identical.

    Any suggestions?
