    My Zumo500 works this way:
-when I merge many img-map-files (coming from the same Garmin map version) in 1 img-map-file using Gmaptool, I obtain only 1 selectable box.
-if I put many img-map-files (coming from the same Garmin map version) in internal device memory naming them with different names such as gmapprom.img, gmapsupp.img, gmapsup2.img and even another gmapsupp.img in SD, I obtain only 1 selectable box as above.
-I can obtain separate selectable boxes ONLY if img-map-files are coming from different versions of Garmin maps.

I guess if it's possible to change file attributes using Gmaptool to simulate that a file is coming from a different Garmin map version.........
I understood perfectly and the reply is the same than above
No , because these maps have the same FID (Mapid) , they comes from an unique map and Garmin sees them like just one map-
Should change FIDs , but this is another story, a bit complicate or impossible-

Just for everyone's information, I also tried joining multiple gmap3d.img together with multiple gmapprom.img and everything works as far as I can tell. 3D buildings can be viewed.
My file is almost 4gb, though it works so i guess it depends on your device.

only one map (gmapsupp.img) was reconized by 1350T. Other map named gmapsup2.img cannot be reconized.

    i am using edge 800
I name the maps instead of gmapsupp.img
    eg:
    gmapsuppThailand.img
    gmappsuppIndonesia.img
    gmapp suppMalSing.img

All the files placed in the garmin folder of micro sd card.
The device can read all these maps without having to join the maps using gmap tool.
Wonder if it's a new feature in newer garmin devices.
IOh, btw, it has a basemap already preinstalled.
    Perhaps this helps?

I have an etrex Vista HCx. I have downloaded Garmin Pacific Bluechart v10.5 2008.5 and Garmin Aus Topo v3. I would like to combine the charts of the East coast of Australia with as much of Eastern Australia topo as can fit (most importantly Queensland remaining states not so important) onto a 4Gb Micro SD card.
Is there a way to combine the charts and topo maps onto one SD card that will work in the etrex. If so can someone refer me to a tutorial (I've looked but can't seem to find one) or explain the process please. I have loaded the topo maps into Mapsource so that I can view which maps I need, but I can't load the charts to see which of them I need.

    greetings folks,

I just bought a nuvi 2465 which came preloaded with multiple maps of Malaysia and Singapore and I also just bought a microSD card.

    Some questions tho:

    1. is it recommended to transfer anything to the microSD card? should I backup anything first?

    2. what files to transfer?

    3. how to transfer the files? I also have a card reader handy if that's needed

    Many thanks!

1). It is better to put anything you don't cleary know into sd card. (when you get problem so just take it off then the problem is solved.)
3). When you connect 2465 with USB then computer will see Nuvi & sd card. just try
