    The *.img, *.unl & *.gma files are interdependent so it's best they be in the same folder, either on the device (or a card) which the .unl & .gma were originally created for. If you move the map to an sd card to use it in a different unit, it needs to be unlocked, and that means by [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]. Otherwise you would need to repurchase the map and obtain a new .unl & .gma. You can create a new .unl file for the map using the card id with jetmouse, but it'll be useless without a new .gma of course, because the original .gma is specific for the original device/card only, so it won't work with the new .unl.

    Edit: Just to be clear, the map will work in any sd inserted in the unit provided it's accompanied by it's legitimate and appropriately named .unl & .gma files. Accompanied that is, either on the sd with the map, or remaining on the unit. By legitimate, i mean those files that were created or existing when the map/unit was purchased.

    Hello all,
    I'm wondering if anyone has succeeded in loading multiple mapsets into a microSD for Rino 650? When I load Blucharts, Tides and Shonky Topo all at once (onto the card) they all become merged and I cannot disable each one on the unit. In the map set-up page of the rino 650 I can see 3 sets of maps (Base Map, Bluecharts Tide & Shonky and the Demo Map).
    Is it possible to load the three (Bluecharts, Tides and Shonky) mapsets separately onto the card? I've tried loading it into the internal memory (1.6G) but it shows only the Bluecharts plus Tides but not the Shonky???
    Am I doing it wrong or what? Thanks in advance.
    If you're not living on the edge, then you're taking up too much space.

    Are your maps overlapping the same areas?

    On my Nuvi 255W the second map on SD card worked only with the name gmapsup1, not gmapsup2, so anyone interested could try this name also.
    Thanks however for the tip on naming the map gmapsup with just one p at the end, because all other variants failed.

    @vasile72
    Santosan's post you quoted was made almost 2 years ago, and was not applicable for your Nuvi 255W at the time which then would support only one map named gmapsupp.img in the Garmin folder of the sd.

    A recent fw upgade to your 255W has enabled a second map for sd, which must be named only gmapsup1.img as you have found.
