For gpsmap 620 you can merge map to gmupsupp.img on SD with gMapTool only. I test on non-marine maps. In marine mode I can see only one - topo map. In auto mode no problem with switch between maps!
But BlueChart G2??? Try!
In marine mode you may see only BlueChart G2? In auto mode? Give us to know the result!
I can confirm, that at internal memory of 620 are working well near of origin map names, also with gmapprom.img and gmapprom1.img. For SD card did not found any good solution jet.
Hi,
I put the whole series of GB Discoverer 25K National Park (19 .img files of 400 MB which weights roughly 7.5 GB) on a 8 GB SD card into a garmin folder.
If so, my Montana can't read the SD.
If I want to read it, I have to drag nine or ten .img files and drop them into another folder on the SD, so that it remains roughly 4 GB in Garmin folder and I can only display half of the .img files on my Montana.
So maximum weight readable with Montana should be 4 GB ?
Edit : in fact, after several trials the whole 19 .img files were displayed on my Montana. I dragged and dropped the nine .img file one by one from the other folder to the Garmin folder on the SD, checking every .img file was displayed after each drop, and it worked !
Capricious SD or capricious device ?
@segio2
In fact the usual problem is with the file size limit in FAT32, which is 4GiB (- 1 byte). In addition, Garmin devices also have limits as to how many map tiles can be contained in a single *.img file, and there is also a maximum number of *.img files that a particular device can cope with. Unlikely you will run up against either of the latter two most times, but the FAT32 limit can be easily exceeded.
Anyone have experience with GPSMap 62 or 76 devices – I tried all the above solutions but no positives results. ???
Create a Garmin folder in sd and copy .img (anyname.img)
Naturally .img must be unlocked ;)
Could you please explain? Thanks.Quote:
