At this point, I believe — in fact, I’m certain — that the cause was an incomplete transfer of the Dezl firmware. I confirm that it wasn’t starting and remained stuck on the Garmin logo.

Yes that would certainly explain it. Probably one of the fw regions, 14, 127 or 158, was incomplete or corrupted during the flash. It happens sometimes, rarely thank goodness.
