Yes that's correct for nuvi 2460 > dezl, however nuvi 265W HWID 0827 when either converted to HWID 0943 or kept as original HWID will show as "nuvi 465" on splash screen following conversion. So it's unlikely that info is held in boot.bin. It may be possible to change this by a deep dive into fw_all.bin I would think. However it would take advanced programming skills and the risk/benefit hardly seems worth it.
I entirely agree with you. I just like things to be made perfect, not partially. There is one other concern - I saw from screenshots of an original Camper 770, that there are 3 applications,which I don't seem to have - ACSI, Campercontact and MHF. They should be included in the firmware, but ....

Modern devices aren't always so simple to convert which is why in answer to your initial post i stated that it might cross-flash successfully if PCB P/Ns match. I recall a thread a while back, I think it was conversion of zumo 550 to 595, where some missing features were also reported after conversion. Whether some functions are absent because of hardware/firmware restrictions or missing files is another consideration.
Yes.The Ukrainian experts from mirgarmin know how to do it,but unfortunately,they are nor willing to share. Maybe Garmin express can do it, but for that I need "Garmindevice.xml" from a genuine Camper 770.

He only needs the relatively small "GarminDevice.xml" file which you'll find in the device's Garmin folder. Copy it then remove your device's UID, look for this:
"</Model>
<Id>1234567890</Id>" as example and remove the ten numerals in your file. You'll have to then compress it as a ZIP or RAR as XML files are not allowed for upload to our server.
To attach it on your existing post use "Edit" button. For a new post you first need to go to advanced editor by using "Go Advanced" button. Then scroll down to "Manage Attachments" button.
Thanks a lot,Wlodek and Butters. I sent a PM to Wlodek with my email. I just had a short 150 km trip and tried the the converted unit.Works fine,but does not inform me about camper stops and other specific things as they are misding from the software.
I am downloading the soft. More than 10gb. As far as I can remember, Europe 2020.10 with additional files is about 8 gb. Hopefully the rest are the missing files. We'll see...
